The work party will start around 8am. They normally finish early in the afternoon. The Airman will be closed for the day. As a reward only those members who attend the working party will be allowed to fish once the work is complete.

The Fishery Officer decides when a water reopens after the working party, so you need to talk to Nigel (he doesn't read this forum). His phone number is on the front of your membership book.

Working party attendance doesn't automatically qualify for any discount on membership fees. It has been discussed and there are a number of pros and cons (e.g. who decides if you have pulled your weight at a work party or spent too much time chatting and drinking tea?).

Rather than offering a discount, some clubs insist all able bodied members 'attend' a minimum number of work parties. If you don't, you have to pay extra.

Remember the club has to pay its bills (i.e. water rents), so any system of discounts would have to be paid for by an increase in membership fees.

so are you saying you do get discount or are you trying to keep it hush hush as your not making much sense or dose it depend on who you are if it is decided weather you have pulled your weight if you are saying you do get a discount then that would get more people to help i would say and as the book price has gone up it would help

Re: work party at the airman

Apologies for not making it clear first time round.

Currently, working party attendance doesn't qualify for any discount on membership fees. The only rewards are knowing you are putting something back into your club, and being allowed to fish the water on the day of the work party (after work is complete).

Various incentive schemes have been discussed, but none have been implemented. Any discount scheme would have to be paid for out of membership subscriptions.

Please note, the actual book price has not gone up. The 2008/9 membership fees are the same as last season. However, a night permit will be required from 16th June 2008 by those members wishing to night fish the Airman and Willington.
