club matches
can anyone explain the rule on water closure when a match is booked, please? due to a change of circumstances i'd planned a long weekend on the airman, but this morning i noticed it clashes with the match. i dont mind fishing the match because i was a match angler(a very good one at that so watch out boys and girls) but i need to know when to cease my night so i dont upset anybody.the only upset person will be me, after baiting a swim for two days someone else could end up catching MY FISH!

Re: club matches
Wormboy,
The best person to ask is the match secretary, Alan Andrews. His number is in the front of the club book.
I believe that Willington was closed at 1am on the morning of the match. So all carp anglers were off by 1am, the draw was at 7am and the match was fished from 8am until 3pm.
Like I say, this is what I believe happened, I can't remember the exact times.

Re: club matches
I was down the Airman this afternoon and there is a notice up on the entrance gate stating that the lake is closed from 1am sunday morning until 4pm sunday afternoon.

Re: club matches
why is the airman closing at1 am for a match starting at 7 am and do that mean if you are fishing on your night permit you have to vacate the water at 1 am if that is the casewhy can we not fish until the night permit expires because the match fishing secatery and all match fisherman who dont have a night permit are not aloud on the lake with out permit within these times

Re: club matches
I realise this is probably a bit late, but will respond anyway. In simple terms Colin, it is to be fair to the anglers looking to fish the match given the unavoidable commotion / disruption that is created as the night anglers pack away.
The water has time to settle and return to 'normal' to ensure all those attending the match have the same chance of catching.
I hope this provides suitable clarification?
Out of curiosity, are there any former match anglers reading this that are interested in getting back into fishing the matches the club runs? If there are keep your eye on the website or have a look in the club card to see where the next match is being held or alternatively send me a PM.
