A reminder that the first match of the season will be taking place at Willington Lake this coming Sunday to which all members are invited. (Draw at 7am, fish 8am - 1pm)

For those of you that haven't seen the lake for a while, there is a lot of weed growth present, though having had a walk round there yesterday evening, it looks as though there are a few holes which will hopefully produce some fish.

Please remember we are looking to preserve fish stocks so participants are encouraged to use a 'silver-fish' keepnet and also a 'specimen' keepnet (which will probably turn out to be a tench and bream net if all goes well emoticon ) to retain their catch.

PLEASE BE AWARE THE WATER WILL BE CLOSED TO GENERAL FISHING FROM 0000hrs (MIDNIGHT) TO 1500hrs (3PM) ON SUNDAY 28TH.

Afternoon Everyone.

A reminder that the next club match will be held on the Airman on the 26th July with a draw time of 7.00am and fishing from 8.00am - 1.00pm.

All members are welcome to attend and hopefully if the roach are feeding big nets should be on the cards!

As stated in the club card, the water will be closed to general fishing from 0000hrs (midnight) to 1500hrs on the day.

Thank you

Re: Club Matches 2009 / 10 Season

It's that time again; the next match is coming up this weekend on 16th August, with our anglers being given the opportunity to fish a 3 way event on the River Cam at Clayhythe hosted by Letchworth with Blunham invited.

I am told it takes about an hour to get to the venue from Letchworth, so we will be looking at a 6.15am meet at Tesco's carpark in Baldock. emoticon

The draw takes place at 0730 hours with fishing between 0900 - 1400 hours. If you wish to make your own way there, please pm me for venue details / location, likewise if you require any further details.

Sounds like it should be a good day out.

A reminder that the next club match is to be fished this coming weekend on Sunday 20th September.

The venue is Stanford Canal, and the match length will be the high pegs accessed via the cut-through by peg 1 on Broom River (THIS IS WHERE THE DRAW WILL TAKE PLACE.)

The whole length of the canal for the first field to the main hedge is booked, though the early pegs accessed from the other end off Mill Lane will remain open for pleasure fishing.

If you are thinking of attending and haven't participated in any of the matches so far this season can you please PM me as the number of swims readily available to fish are limited and parking arrangements can be confirmed.

Thank you. emoticon

A Reminder that the next club match is being fished this coming Sunday with the River Ivel at Broom the venue. The draw will take place at 8.00am in Broom Lake car park with fishing from 9.00am - 2.00pm.

The match length will be from peg 1 (where Stanford Canal enters the river) right the way through to the second stile on the 'S' bend. (For the avoidance of any doubt, the 'S' bend is included in the match length)

The match length will be closed to general fishing from 0000 hrs to 1600 hrs on the 25th October, though the section from Jordans Mill up to the first stile may be pleasure-fished.

If you've ever fancied having a go at the matches, why not come along? emoticon

Likewise, if you have always struggled to catch from the venue, take a walk during the weigh-in to see what has been landed and have a chat with the group to see if they can give you a few ideas which may help improve your success rate? emoticon

As with all fishing, nothing is guaranteed but we will certainly give it our best shot! emoticon

We have an inter-club fixture this coming Sunday against Blunham on their stretch of the Ouse at Willington.

From what I can gather, perch are a predominant species over there, with a recent match having been won with over 15 lb of them! Let's hope they're on the feed this weekend! emoticon

If you are interested in coming along, please use the contact numbers in the card (under Match Calendar) for further details.

(One thing, judging by the forecast an umbrella may be an essential piece of kit this weekend if venturing out anywhere!) emoticon

Re: Club Matches 2009 / 10 Season

Not a bad days fishing over the weekend considering the conditions!

This Sunday 8th November, the club is hosting the IPA 'Teams of 6' Competition, which, not surprisingly is being fished on the Ivel at Broom.

There will be a number of other clubs competing in the event and the venue from peg 1 where Stanford Canal enters the river through to Jordans Mill will be closed to general fishing from 0000hrs until 1600hrs on the day. There are some lovely looking swims along there which will hopefully produce some big weights!

If you would like to participate in the competition, please email me.

Thank you.

This coming weekend on Sunday 29th Nov. we have a 3-way fixture being fished on the clubs stretch of the Ivel at Broom.

The match length will run from Jordans Mill through to the junction where Stanford Canal enters the river and once again the match length will be closed to pleasure fishing from 0000 hrs (midnight) to 1600 hrs (4pm) on the 29th.

Hopefully with the rain that we have had recently this will encourage the fish to feed and some good weights will be possible.

As with all of the previous fixtures, all members are welcome to participate. For further details, please refer to your clubcard or send me an email.

Who knows, another 4lb + perch may grace the folds of one lucky participants landing net........?

Thank you.
