Bicknell Full Moon Madness
Let me get this outta the way, first... anyone that goes down Bicknell Hill is already nuts 'cause it's a fast and short hill that dumps into the Santa Monica beach parking lot. Add to that, 30 cones @ 6.5' apart, a timer, and some half crazed slalom racers. Now you've got a recipe for a fun filled evening of racing. FAST racing!
Mike Gorman
Floyd Reid
Attila Aszodi
Bill Wahl
Mike Kaelon
Mike Maysey
Good times were obviously had by all that were present.
Our fearless leader, a.k.a. Davo, keeps the times recorded and runs the timing system.
The podium... which ended with David Carrasco/2nd place (left), Mike Maysey/1st place, (middle), and Tim Kienitz/3rd place (right). Congrats to Mike for taking 1st place! No, Wahl's dog wasn't part of the trophy cup.
After the awards were handed out, Chris Chaput of ABEC-11 wheels, kindly donated a LOT of special race formula slalom wheels and a few sets of Bilt-in bearings to Mike Gorman. Sadly, Mike's garage recently caught on fire and he lost all of his race skateboard setups, guitars, leathers, and other things. Mike was more than stoked to receive such a nice act of kindness. Once again... skaters KICK ASS!
The SK8 Kings showed and proved that they can all race down an insane hill and do it FAST. David Carrasco, Tim Kienitz, and Renè Carrasco.
Much thanks to all of the spnosors, the racers, and the local Police for allowing this fun event to take place with no problems and/or injuries. The cops showed up jjust as we were packing things up. They were totally civil towards us, too. Most of all, thanks to Davo for putting on another kickass skateboard gathering.
