Star Trek: The Next Generation
This was always my very favorite Star Trek Series. I watched it with my dad when I was young, and now I watch the reruns all the time. This show was what made me the sci-fi fan I am today.
Captain Jean Luc Picard is the best Starfleet captain ever!
And Data is such a wonderful character; unemotional, yet so obviously has feelings. Even Spock doesn't compare to Data...

Re: Star Trek: The Next Generation
I like Star Trek Voyager; I enjoy Captain Janeway immensly. She is a strong woman who makes a great captain. I am all about strong women on TV even if it is fiction. That is also the reason I like Samantha carter too btw.

Re: Star Trek: The Next Generation
I too, like Voyager and Janeway, but TNG is still by far my favorite series.

Re: Star Trek: The Next Generation
I agree, Sam. TNG was when Star Trek still meant science and exploration, with mystery, romance and action mixed in. I an not at all fond of the new series, "Enterprise", although it has had a few memorable episodes (namely the one where T'Pol tells the story about the Vulcans that landed on Earth in the 20th century). I liked Voyager, but not at first. I thinksome of Voyager's best episodes were after Kes left and Seven of Nine was there. The plot with Seven learning to be human again allowed them many memorable episodes. DS9 had its moments, but was too stationary for me.
TNG really was the most well-rounded and endearing series. Data was the best character! But all of the characters were interesting, unique and wonderful.

Re: Star Trek: The Next Generation
I agree, I think TNG is the best Star Trek. It was really well rounded and explored the characters and a lot of strange possibilities. Plus they did a lot of interesting "what ifs" with the holodeck. I watched DS9, but I thought it got too political and voyager wasn't bad. As far as Enterprise is concerned I think they just need to explore the characters more and give Archer a bit of a back bone. He kind of lets all the aliens walk all over him. But I think the show will do better next season, when they can explore more things.

Re: Star Trek: The Next Generation
I agree that TNG is the best of all the new versions of Star Trek but I prefer the original above all of them. When I turn on the TV and catch an episode of the Original Star Trek, it is like finding a little piece of gold. I know the effects are terrible and sometimes the acting is poor...okay, usually the acting is poor, but every episode has them traveling somewhere. I can't think of a single episode that centered around Spock dealing with his relationship with McCoy or Scotty having a midlife crisis. The old Star Trek could never be mistaken for a drama show.

Re: Star Trek: The Next Generation
I agree, Trinity, that they need to work on Archer's character. He is so stiff, and he doesn't really have the major personality that Kirk, Picard, Sisko and Janeway had. He needs more personal things to affect him, and he also needs to develop more of a camaraderie with the rest of the crew. The interactions on Enterprise right now are just so bland. Even with T'Pol and Archer....My favorite character on Enterprise is Trip Tucker. He has the makings of a really endearing character.
I also agree, mechaDaedalus, that the Original Star Trek was pretty awesome. I like to watch the episodes, but I think that it was TOO much of a drama--with all the Kirk and women interactions!!! I think what draws me so strongly to TNG is the fact that they have a lot of science, a lot of character interaction, but not overdoses of either. And the science on TNG is solid and constant, which I think is necessary for any show that considers itself part of the "sci-fi" genre.

Re: Star Trek: The Next Generation
Trip's my favorite too. He has the most personality of the entire crew. And it would help if the crew were closer and less formal. Although it is the first enterprise and the crew is new and everything...bit they didn't seem to have that problem in the other star treks. They'll probably fix all that over the second season if they run into some more difficult situations.

Re: Star Trek: The Next Generation
Hopefully. I think they have the potential there, they are just not exploring it enough and in the right ways yet.
