 Stargate Movie?
I heard them mention on The Lowdown that they didn't know whether this first episode was going to be a series finale, season premiere or -- a motion picture. I'm just curious. Do any of you think they will make another Stargate movie -- a Stargate SG-1 motion picture -- after the series is finished (whenever that may be)?

I think that whenever the show does actually end, they will most likely make a movie. But a lot depends on the original Stargate movie's creators. They surely still own the license to create more Stargate movies. Would they be willing to give that up or work with the SG-1 producers to create a movie? And if they did, would it feature the SG-1 cast or the original Stargate movie cast?
Ihope they won't do another Stargate movie with Kurt Russell and James Spader. That movie was great, but we are used to Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks now.
It also depends on how they choose to end the show on TV. Hopefully this won't be an issue for a long LONG time!

I agree wholeheartedly. I know Col O'neil is supposed to be surly, but Kurt Russell is too sour. Plus, like you said Sam, we are used to RDA and Michael Shanks. I tried to watch the original mavie the other day and James Spader/Daniel looked dumber than I remember. I guess it's all about your point of view. I loved the movie when it came out and when Stargate SG1 first aired, I thought it was weak. But now, looking back, I don't think I could handle another person playing Jack.

I read the transcript from the Chris Judge chat (I was going to be there for the actual thing but I was working on my website and totally forgot  ) and he said that the cast is in talks for another season (hopefully more!) and there was a movie in the works for when the show is officially over. Yay!!!

Hi, i'm new here .... but SG-1 IS my favorite show
the buzz that i heard was, after this season would come the 2nd stargate movie, and then the new spin-off serios STARGATE: ATLANTIS .... the main view about the lost city that they're searching for in the new series is that it is in fact the lost city of atlantis, the lost city of the ancients.

Welcome Jack!! I was suspicious that they'd connect the city of the ancients to atlantis. It would make perfect sense that the ancients had a city on earth.

thanx 4 the warm welcome ppl, nice 2 kno other "gaters" are out there who love the show as much as i do.
well, yeh, in the last episode of series 6, daniel read off a tablet that the ancients were basically (as far as i understand it) humans who evolved (or 'ascended') .... the whole atlantis thing had been in the works for a gd while before it was tied in, they'd always been toying with the idea of a spin-off show .... i haven't seen ne of the cartoon series "stargate: infinity" except for the 1st episode, didn't look as brilliant as SG-1 tho
