T25 intermittent starting problem
Every now and then it fails to start.
Turn the key and you get the click at the front followed by the clunk at the rear, but no effort at turning over at all. Few attempts later and she fires up ok. I generaly park on slopes so that if I get bored trying to start her I can always roll start.
Couple of guesses:
Dodgy solenoid (No I don't really know what that is)
Half dead starter motor.
What's the best next move?

Re: T25 intermittent starting problem
Hi Gail...
i had the same problem. It's the starter motor. your looking at about £90 + vat from GSF. Make sure they give you a bosch one not a recycled one.
It's probably worth replacing the bush thing that comes with it to however this is a nightmare to get out.
Dave changed mine within 15mins and Bob did his in about the same amount of time..
see you Sunday hopefully
Andy.. :-)

Re: T25 intermittent starting problem
Cheers. Thought it would be the 2nd option. That job can wait behind list from today's MOT (only bits - but still a bill).
Have done the front bearings and brakes - the back bearings need doing next, as long as she starts at least once out of 10 attempts, that'll do me for now.
See you Sunday.

Re: T25 intermittent starting problem
I have the same problem with mine -Darren, my mechanic, says it's a dodgy dirty earth strap issue on mine. It's been like it for a year, but after a couple of tries always starts, so he has'nt been arsed to fix it !!

Re: T25 intermittent starting problem
this is a very very common problem with the t25
its very easy to fix when you pull the starter motor out there is a bronze bush in the gearbox which wears and makes the starter run slighty out of line whih means it clicks or more commonly winds slowly and fails to start
you can get them from jk

Re: T25 intermittent starting problem
I'been using the tried and tested 'ignore the bloody thing' approach.
2 weeks later, it's not doing it anymore. Shhh!
