No-worries! I have plenty of faith in you guys.
I've already put some feelers out to see if I can't help with the answers to some of the questions?
As a side thought....Companies only offer discounts if they can afford to with their profit margins! Along with this concept there is fierce competition to get your VW Pounds as more and more companies start to stock parts for most models! So at this point if a company wants to get more customers by letting a club have discount maybe they can persuaded that instead of their unachievable list that would contravine the data protection act there might be a work around.
So here's a question....Does the club keep an upto date paid up members list???
If so then why not arrange a process that a paid up member contacts the mail order company with their club membership details and registers with the company. Said company then fires off an email to whoever in the club keeps the list who then checks the member is legit and fires off two emails. One a reply to the company confirming the members status and the other to said member telling them that they can now order from the company and receive discount.
I do realise that the finer points will need ironing out and once a year if members leave then said companies might need notifying.....the clubs call?!?! Yes there will be a busy period where members all register with said company but once that's out the way then it's business as usual. Worst case scenario it'll take 10 mins to deal with a request. With some organisation and pro-forma email replies this will be able to be dramatically cut....in theory.
I do realise there's a bit of farting about with the process but the selling point to companies is that they are being contacted by new customers who will create a new customer account regardless of club status which will make ordering from said company more appealing and faster as their details are on the system. Half the battle for these companies is getting you to start to deal with them in the first place and if there is a good enough reason to get in touch then they can work on good service and repeat business.
