Re: Orbs
Welcome to the boards Dru
Beliver or not (or sit on the fence, logical thinking believer, whatever) your opinons are most welcome on this forum. I hate the forums i visit that are one sided with no differing opinions.
To answer the question about true or false orbs. What i mean by true or false is basicaly ghost or dust. I am sceptical about this subject too and am going to be doing alot more research and carrying out some experiments in this area so watch this space!

Re: Orbs
Hi Richard,
Thanks for the welcome, if you havent worked out by no from my posts, i am very much the sceptic. Having said that I am not here to knock anyone but merely to offer a different explanation where i can to what may or may not be percieved as paranormal.
I have a website of my own but i wasnt sure if i was allowed to post the URL on here.
Dru.

Re: Orbs
How would you explain seeing orbs with your own eyes rather than through the lens of a camera then Dru ?

Thats easy, imagination.
Or perhaps a case of people seeing what they want to see.
The trouble with saying you saw/see an orb with the naked eye is that it cannot be tested. You may say you see one but how do i/can i be sure?
What amazes me is that until the early 80's when Dale Kazmarock coined the term 'orbs' after introducing digital photograpy to his ghost hunts, no one saw them, either through the naked eye or camera lens. go figure???

Re: Orbs
I recall a few cases documented before that where people reported seeing floating specks of light with their naked eyes but they were quite rare. I also know that pro photographers who used decent tweakable flashguns on film cameras did get dust orbs on photographs from time to time. It's only the layout and sync speed of modern digital cameras that makes it more obvious, and it's getting worse now that more exspensive cameras have zoom assist illuminators and the like.
Oh, and don't even get me started on night vision - if I had my way I'd ban it from invests, as I would any piece of kit that you know is designed to distort reality..

Re: Orbs
Absolutely, and this is what I've been working towards for some time. It's true to say that if you are going to get light or sound anomalies then you're more likely to detect them at night when there is less background interference, but you have to weigh this against the mind's predisposition to make things up when there is a lack of sensory input.. especially at around 2-3am which is the natural low spot of the day for most people.
My casebook is full of interesting events that have happened at all times of the day, and it seems from the witness statements that they were less inclined to put a paranormal explanation to things until they sat down and thought about it. Conversly this implies that people are more likely to jump to a paranormal explanation if the circumstances are psychologically conducive towards uncertainty and nerves. This is borne out by the way that the attitudes of many newcomers to investigations changes noticeably as the evening moves on, from bravado towards nervousness.
In short, I don't see any reason why investigations in the daytime should be any different whatsoever from those at night, and I'm trying to work towards this more. I also remain surprised that folk who do have an unshakeable belief in ghosts as the extension of a once living person seem comfortable with the idea that after death, people choose to offset their daily routine by 12 hours for no apparent reason

Re: Orbs
I totally agree. The whole investigating at night business comes from the old haunted house at the fairground days, in other words, trying to spook each other out!
It's like the TV shows and all our paranormal websites, always dark and gloomy, it's just setting the mood.
Also, they say most paranormal activity is between 2 and 4am (or there abouts) which is because most people die at that time. Personaly though i think its because your half asleep and tired. Your bound to see things out of the corner of your eye.
I would like to conduct a series of investigations. Both at night and day in the same locations, and then compare the results.

Re: Orbs
I personally have seen these 'orbs' with my naked eye on invests but I personally put it down to my eyes trying to see in the pitch dark!! I also see all sorts of swirling green and purple mists but this is just my eyes trying to focus again!! Nothing paranormal at all.
I personally agree with investigating in the light or even at night with the light on - specially as most paranormal activity is witnessed in the light. We should be trying to re-create the conditions the activity was reported not sit around in the dark!!
