Lost civilisation found off coast of Japan
In 1985, a dive tour operator Kihachiro Aratake, dove off the Arakawa Point looking for hammerhead sharks. What he found became world-known since then and has been under observation by a group of geologists there led by Dr. Masaaki Kimura as well as many other geologists including Dr. Robert Schoch. One of my favourite authors, Graham Han****, has written a great deal on it and has dived many times to get a better look, and has some striking photographs (taken by his wife Santha Faiia) where he compares similar structures in Sacsayhuaman Peru to this underwater monumental structure. (click on the link to view the pics, please) http://www.grahamhan****.com/gallery/underwater/yonaguni.htm
The thing that really makes me think that this is not just any other rock formed by erosion is the way the stone looks so much like a step-pyramid. Also, there have been strange markings on a platform which bear resemblance to hieroglyphs as well. (Click on the link to view the pics, please.)http://www.toriitraining.com/new_page_2.htm
Another interesting thing about this monument is that there seems to be a face carving on what they call 'the stage' (click on the link to view the pics please)http://www.toriitraining.com/stage_photo_gallery.htm
Although Robert Schoch, the geologist who visited Yonaguni for himself thinks that this underwater monument may have been caused by natural erosion, work is still being done on it and it is still under observation, and Dr. Schoch concludes himself that it may have been a natural structure that could have been "utilized, enhanced, and modified by humans in ancient times" when it was once on the surface on the earth and not underwater like it is today...
This is the link to Dr. Schoch's complete report on Yonaguni along with some of the photographs taken by him:

The thing here is that it is a truly remarkable structure that was once ON THE SURFACE OF THE EARTH and sank due to the ice age meltdown along with a possible earthquake and tsunami.

I'm sure as we explore the ocean more and more we will find a lot of cities underwater and who knows maybe merpeople?
Only the future will tell, alot of land we see today used to be underwater so maybe alot of the seabed used to be dry land once? Who knows what we will find!
