Spiritual Protection
Probably one for the mediums and sensitives among us but what is everyones views on using spiritual protection during an investigation/seance/vigil etc.?
Personaly i don't ask for protection, not only because i have all the psychic powers of a house brick but mainly because i don't understand why everyone is convinced that ghosts/spirits are out to hurt us.

Re: Spiritual Protection
I won't have any part of it - there are far too many assumptions involved:
1. Ghosts exist
2. They can affect us in some way
3. We can do something about it
4. The things we try to do about it actually have some testable effect, and are more than just superstition and folklore
I know those will probably wind a lot of people up, but that's the way I see it. The moment you start to subscribe to claims such as the ones used by advocates of psychic protection, you're already placing yourself into a mindset where you half expect something to happen. The only way to be completely impartial is not to accept anyone elses beliefs in *any* way, and that includes humouring them.

Re: Spiritual Protection
The only place I have been is in the Hall at Gresley....and I didn't expect there to be anything unusual cos I've never encountered anything before, so I didn't use/take anything.
But if I went in there again now, then I would take something with me, like a bible or a cross....just something to make me feel better.

Re: Spiritual Protection
Although I agree with what is being said about psychic protection, and the assumptions about ghostly existance...As an Energy Practitioner, I personally use psychic protection on a daily basis for many reasons, here are just two of them..
1..to help me to be protected against people who are natural drainers. They are those who when you are talking to them either face-to-face or even over the telephone, they make you feel drained and tired. They may not always appear to be negative, but they feed off your energy and sap it to the core, and may not even be aware they are doing that.
2..to help protect against people whose spiritual intentions are not for the good. Putting it bluntly, they maybe into the black arts or something of that nature...
again, even these reasons make assumptions that by doing the protection we must believe that something unseen is going to harm us. It's just that I am trying to make the point that psychic/spiritual protection isn't just about ghosts/spirits etc...but protection from living people.

Re: Spiritual Protection
I hear you Helen, nice to see you posting.
It is interesting in listening on what different people use to protect themselves, as I have found out that everyone will use different ways. It is allways good to try several different approaches till you find the best one that suits you.
Protection from the living :-) mmm I hear you there, I deffinatley think that it is the living hat you need more protection from lol. Seriously though. A good allround protection is allways good, it is allways best to be prepared for most eventualities. It is impossible to anticipate al,as you just don't know whats round the corner.
