There's a Ghost in my house.
There's a Ghost in my house.
Its been 5 years since we moved in to my house at Swadlincote. We have come to an understanding with a ghost which seems to be bound to the house.
The lady who lived here had to move out, as she had problems with her legs and one had to be amputated. She move out of her home to live with her sister in Liverpool, so the house had to be sold. The house was then sitting empty for a year. That's when I come into the story. The lady, I will call her "Mrs J" was still hanging in there, in liverpool for two months after I moved in. Then two weeks before Christmas, she past away. That's when it all starts. Little things at first like door handles moving up and down, as if she is out side the door trying to come in the room.
We later found out, all the doors where taken off, so she could move around the house in her wheelchair a little better.
Other things like the smell of cigarette smoke in the hall way, foot steps moving around up stairs, doors shacking and banging. My cats senses things in the rooms then runs off. All my three daughters have seen sightings of "Mrs J" moving across the room. One of my girls hair has being played with as if it was being platted, hot and cold spots all over the house. In the small room at the back of the house there are flashes of light and orbs moving from the ceiling to the floor. None of my daughters will now sleep the night in there. Smoke alarms going of at the same time all over the house & the best one for me was when I have seen her at the door, as an outline of gray lady for about 20 seconds.
Diane King had came to visit me at my house one day. With all these things going on in my home, it now seems to be a part of life living here, and we don't talk about it.
But Diane picked up on my ghost. One thing I have learnt, is not to have a medium for tea, lol. she was coming out with thing's about 'Mrs Js" lifethat we have researched. she had three boy friends living here over the years, two cats & a dog. We believe she is trying to tell us, she would like her house back and the money we found under the carpet, we believe she had put asside for a holiday as it was in an envelope marked up as "holiday money". Only me and my wife knew this at the time, when we gutted the house!!
I think she like's it here, with me & my family. It appears she had a son called Stephen which is also coincidentally my name, and a daughter called kimberley which is also my daughters name. Mrs J, was big into Mediumship, as she went to many circles, in Swadlincote. I think we have a good understanding as we have living together in this house now for many years. She seems boud to the house, not wanting to leave her home & we are bound to the bank's 20 year mortgage.

There's a Ghost in My House (motown cover)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYfWSqPRQII&feature=related
This is a cover of a tune by R. Dean Taylor, born 1939 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada – songwriter for Motown in the late '60s.
There's a ghost in my house
The ghost of your memories
The ghost of the love you took from me
Well, our love used to be
Only shadows from the past I see
Time can't seem to erase
The vision of your smiling face
Though you found someone new
I can't get over you
There's a ghost in my house
I can't hide (ghost in my house)
From the ghost of your love that's inside (ghost in my house)
It keeps on haunting me (ghost in my house)
Just keeps on recalling me (ghost in my house)
In my mind I know you're gone
But my heart keeps holding on
To the memories of those happy times
To the love that once was mine
Though we're far apart
You're always in my heart
There's a ghost in my house
I can't hide (ghost in my house)
From the ghost of your love that's inside (ghost in my house)
You're still such a part of me (ghost in my house)
Still so deep in the heart of me (ghost in my house)
I just keep hearing your footsteps on the stairs
When I know there's no-one there
Every day I love you more
So much more than the day before
Sittin' in my easy chair
I feel your fingers running through my hair
Lookin' down in my coffee cup
I think I see your face lookin' up
All alone without you
You voice that goes through
There's a ghost in my house
And I can't hide (ghost in my house)
From the ghost of your love that's inside (ghost in my house)
It keeps on haunting me (ghost in my house)
Just keeps on reminding me (ghost in my house)
I just keep hearing your footsteps on the stairs
When I know there's no-one there
You're still such a part of me (ghost in my house)
Still so deep in the heart of me (ghost in my house)
I can't hide (ghost in my house)
From the ghost of your love that's inside (ghost in my house)
(fade)

Re: There's a Ghost in my house.
What an interesting story about your home,,
I really enjoyed reading it, seems
obvious the lady in question doesnt want
to leave it.
Glad to hear you have learned to live with
her.
What a coincidence you and your daughter have
the same names as her children, how cool is that...Bx

Re: There's a Ghost in my house.
she has become part of your family.
I had a similar situation in the house I had in Swadlincote. I lived there for two years and I really miss not having that presents around me.
My lady was very active for the first 6 months when I moved it. I not sure if it was due to all the work I was doing to the house and the changes I was making or if it was the workmen. She seemed to take a liking to older men ie my dad and the workmen!!
she would close doors, throw spoons and we could always smell her perfurm when a man was around. I could sense when she was standing by me but never saw her. she would make alot of noise as if she was moving furniture or walking across the wooden floor. one night at 3 in the morning I was woken up thinking that someone had broken in. 45 mins later of laying in bed listening to all the noises I realized I'm still alive so it must just be her.
Now I really miss her and I wish I found out who she was and all about her when I had the chance like you.

Re: There's a Ghost in my house.
Well tech noir it looks like Mrs J came back home.
I moved to the South of Wales from London about 4 ys ago and bought a lovely old Edwardian house with an entire spirit family in residence. One is residual and the others are intelligent ,nothing nasty about any of them, we all live together quite happily.
Back in 1906 Anne the wife of Herbert took a trip to the North of Wales and fell in love with a house there, on returning she tried to get Herbert to buy the house but Herbert did not want to leave this village, so he bought some land off of the local farmer and he built for Anne an exact replica of the house in the North of Wales. The house was completed in 1910 but sadly Anne died from TB a few years after. It is well known that the house was built out of love and that why it has such a beautiful atmosphere and Herberts ghost makes sure nothing negative can get in, he is better then my guard dogs. He lets people visiting know he is about and that this is still his house.
I could tell so many stories about this house and the family, maybe one day I will write a book.
