F series owner bible or chilton's ford trucks 60 something to 82?
which of these are better? I am on a limited budget as a college student and I'm trying to be as cost effective as possible. are there any other books out there that work better or that everyone should have?

Re: F series owner bible or chilton's ford trucks 60 something to 82?
Definitely the Chilton's, as long as it specifically says it's for your year. The Ford Owner's Bible SAYS it's got info in there for the older trucks, but it's actually got very little that directly pertains to them. While much of the info it does have on the newer trucks is mostly applicable to ours, a lot of it isn't. I got this book recently and was semi-disappointed. It says it covers '48-'95, but it actually concentrates more on the mid-'70s and up. It's definitely a good reference book, but if this is your first book, I'd have to recommend the Chilton's first....and not the little one, the thick one. The smaller Chilton's don't really go into enough detail to truly help you, unless you're just looking for good basic info. Most larger bookstores have both in stock, and if it's feasible for you, I'd suggest browsing through each one first before buying, just to make sure you get what you want. Books is expensive these days! Make sure you get your money's worth!

To maximize your budget, they have some used ones here:

Well, any of those would do pretty well. They're not going to be quite as in-depth as the Factory Shop Manuals, but for a first book I think any of those will take care of most of the basics.
Those factory shop manual sets can get pricey, but are extremely detailed, and definitely worth the money spent. You can keep on eye on E-bay for some good used sets, I see them come through there all the time. In fact, there's a full set on E-bay right now (CLICK HERE) with a $15.00 opening bid and no bidders so far. I'd DEFINITELY jump on this one, or at least keep a sharp eye on it.

In virtually every tech manual I've ever owned, I've always found numerous errors...sometimes even in the factory manuals, though not as often as third-party books like the one you have. So what do you think of the one you got? Is it what you were needing?

Re: F series owner bible or chilton's ford trucks 60 something to 82?
I have just flipped through it....my window regulator might be broken and the book does not show panel removal(at least what i've seen) I just finished doing the same thing on my 92 grandam so this seem like it should be a whole lot easier. the crank seems to be held on by a screw not a clip so that makes it a whole lot more simple. is there anything I should be careful about? handle related?

Nope...it's about as simple as you can get. Remove the screw holding the window crank, the three screws holding the armrest and then the doorpanel retaining screws....and it's off.

Re: F series owner bible or chilton's ford trucks 60 something to 82?
as I am reading throug this manual I am confused...in some sections a 360 is mentioned in 69 .....other times in 70 and sometimes they have a 361 in 69. I'm pretty much asking is it possible they put a 360 in one year and left it out of another because they were so similar?
