tool cabinet

I made a some pretty decent tool cabinets out of a couple of old Petol vats. I welded them up on the shop wall (vertical).
Now does anyone but me know what a petol vat is! :p

Re: tool cabinet

I have no idea. Just did a quick Google search so I could act like a know-it-all, but was asked "Did you mean: petrol vat?" :))

 Come on, clue us in!!
Hey I worked for a guy once that had built his whole garage out of these rectangular army surplus cans. They were roughly the size of the army gas can and he just welded them all together at the seems and made walls, then put on a roof. Then he torched the side of some of them to make bins inside.

They are old style solvent vats, built like a metal cabinet laying on its back. They've pretty much been replaced by the little recirculating parts cleaning vats.
They're designed for pumpshops. Built by petol. They made right nice tool cabinets.

Cool! Well, now you're gonna have to post some pics. I'd be interested in seeing what you've done.

Re: tool cabinet

I'll take some pictures after I get shop tidy'd up a bit. I'm on a mission to get the place organized. I've had the building up for acouple of years, but have never got everything layed out like it should be.
I bought a pretty good freight damaged tool box the other day. That got me motivated! I'm big on trying to do alot without spending alot. (hence the name) The guys at work have another name that's not as nice. =D
