Hi Keith! Thanks for putting this site together. Just have a suggestion though, how about splitting out the engine category you have, like a shop manual i.e.
Engine – engine, ignition, fuel, cooling, exhaust
Drivetrain – clutch, transmission, rear axle, brakes, suspension, steering, wheels & tires
Electrical – charging, starting, lighting, gauges, HVAC
Then the rest like you have, maybe add a special 4x4 only category.
Keep up the great work!
Barry

Barry:
Thanks for the suggestions. I just implemented most of your suggestions. I think this WILL work a little better.
Thanks again!

Re: topics
I got a new wish. How about a topic for "what to look for when buying an old ford" I also have the first question. What does the term "All the numbers match" mean? I have heard people say I bought this (fill in the blank) and all the numbers match. I have always understood this to mean a good thing, but never realy understood what this means.

Re: topics
I always took it to mean that the 2 VIN's on the frame and the VIN/ data plate all matched, that basically it is at least the original frame and driver's side door... :-/

Re: topics
I thought it meant that it had the original engine and tranny? Oh well. I hope someone else can shed some light on this one.

Re: topics
Normally the term 'numbers matching' refers to restorations where all parts on the vehicle have the correct date codes, just as it would have come from the factory. In the late-'60s many automotive manufacturers began including a portion of a vehicles VIN stamped onto the engine block, so then a 'numbers-matching' restoration would include the engine block which matches the vehicles VIN.
Some diehard purists say that once ANY part on a vehicle is replaced, even with an identical piece with a correct date code, it can no longer be a 'correct' restoration. But not only would there be no way of verifying the originality of every single part, personally I feel that's carrying 'originality' a bit too far.

Re: topics
I heara ya. I was watching Dennis Cage yesterday on My Classic Car and he was at a Studibaker rally. Some kid had a 195? Commander that he bought from an estate sale. The original owner kept it in a garage and seldom drove it. Interior looked brand new, nice looking car. They called it a "survivor". The guys on Dream Car Garage would call the same car "unrestored".
I started worrying about the wife's mustang project and originality. I decided to build the car I wanted in high school and couldn't afford. I am going to avoid cutting up anything, or trashing panels to install a sterio =D (old age showing) and let the kids worry about it all after the funeral.
