Having trouble with site pages loading?
I got an e-mail today from someone who said he had been trying to access the website (not the forums) for several days, but couldn't get the pages to fully load. They seemed to stop loading right after the main page header...nothing else would appear. He did say he tried with his wife's computer, and it worked fine.
But after a mention in another thread today about a page not loading, I'm wondering if anyone else has problems with pages loading. Is anyone having problems that they can describe? The page navigation system along the left side of each page incorporates features not supported by older browsers, but I believe the pages should still load up if you use the Site Index link at the top of every page. However, if it's still not working good than perhaps I need to re-evaluate my navigation system.
Please tell me how the site's pages load for you...yea or nay. Thanks! It would also help if you could tell me what browser you use (Netscape, Internet Exploder, etc.) and which version it is.

Basically, the fordification and the truck pictures. load.
[Edit: opps sorry, that banner was only part of what will load]
Most of the time is all that I can get to load.
After clicking on "site Index and refreshing a few times I got it to load, but "with errors".

Re: Having trouble with site pages loading?
OK, thanks for the input. One thing I've noticed over the past few months is that a lot of the website pictures seem to get errors. If I try to click on a thumbnail on one of the pages to bring up a full-sized image, I'll get an error message saying the image cannot be displayed because it has errors. I'll immediately replace it with one from a backup, and everything's fine again. Then the next day I'll notice another picture or two on the site that also has errors, so I have to repost those too. I think I'm going to have to contact the server admin and see what's up. However, I also think later this evening I'm going to replace every single graphic on the site with known good versions, and see if maybe the graphics problem is what's causing the page to fail to load for some people.
Thanks again. Starting tomorrow, after all the graphics have been purged and replaced, if you (or anyone else) still has problems with pages loading, please let me know so I can continue to track down the problem.

Re: Having trouble with site pages loading?
I was running out the door yesterday hence didn't have time to do this for you. Here is what I get, with the IE information for you as well. Usually when this kind of stuff pops up, its related to a IE update, which atleast one came out in the last week.
Strangely enough, sometimes hitting "BACK" will load the page, and refresh will sometimes as well. It is pretty strange.
Note the status bar indicates the page is still loading, but it never does.

Re: Having trouble with site pages loading?
OK, I've done a complete repost of the site...all pages and all graphics. So everything on the site should be OK, at least for now. Holler if you still have problems. Thanks.

Re: Having trouble with site pages loading?
It seems better, but still hangs occasionally.
Seems now hitting "back" loads the page everytime now.
If i click on >data -1972 I get a page like above (without the IE info of course) but hitting "back" loads the page. It is quite strange. At least now I know a work around!

Re: Having trouble with site pages loading?
OK, thanks...I think I might know what's causing it...unfortunately it means I have to delte a line of code out of every single page on the site. I'll have to get started on that within the next day or two, for sure. Thanks for the update, Robert.

Re: Having trouble with site pages loading?
Never have any problems with the website but do have some at the forums. Only when I am at work though. Running Windows 2000 with IE6 (Good ol Navy always 5 years behind!) Sometimes I will click on a page and it will say it is loaded but only give me a white screen. Clicking reload helps, but is annoying.
