Were 3 pt. seatbelts available on '69 F-100s?

My '69 F-100 Custom Cab has two rubber plugs on the inside of the cab about where a shoulder belt would mount if it had originally had a three-point seat belt setup (my truck has the original two-point lap belts).

Does anyone know if a three-point setup was available from the factory? Any links to aftermarket providers?
Thanks!

Yes, 3-point belts were an option, according to all the old factory brochures, but I've never actually seen a set.

I'm planning trying to fit a set of later-model truck's belts gotten from a local salvage yard into mine. I've heard of other people who have successfully done this, but if I remember correctly there are some issues with the size of the bolt (or the bolt threads).

As for aftermarket sets, take a look at the following link. I've heard of other people who have used this setup in their Ford trucks and love it.

Hope this helps. :)

I am one who used Julianos. And the top mounted perfectly tpo that plug/hole. It's the bottom bracket for the spool that has to be tweaked a bit to fit and get the door closed. Had to have 3 point belts if I was going to re-do interior.

I had met a guy here in town who said he had a 70 shortbox with factory shoulder and lap belts. I haven't seen the truck yet but if I remember the chat correctly he stated his truck has dual buckles on each side. 1 for lap belt and 1 for shoulder belt. Maybe I can get a picture?

Mark: Yes, if you have a chance to get some pictures, please do so. (Or, considering our proximity, just e-mail me the guys's name and/or number and I'll look him up the next time I'm in Omaha.)

Thanks for the link. I'm definitely going to upgrade the belts - I keep picturing myself biting a chunk out of the steering wheel should I hit something.

If you hit something in one of these trucks it's the other guy that is going to have to worry!

This is true. But newer cars have built-in crush zones. These cars were designed to sacrifice themselves to save the occupants, unlike our trucks, which will definitely come out on the better end of a collision. However, since the truck won't crush a bit and dampen the force of the impact, that just means your body is going to feel the full brunt of the hit...and it ain't gonna like it. Our steering columns are not collapsable, so your head is gonna get REALLY intimate with the steering wheel unless you have some upper-body restraints. emoticon As far as safety modifications we can do for our trucks, I think a good 3-point harness is right at the top of the list.
