Is it a factory looking switch or an add on looking switch? Do you have dual fuel tanks? Probably the switch for those.

i only got one gas cap so i dnd't think i had dual tanks lol but i've never looked under the truck to see.It looks kinda like a valve thing that you turn its grey but some of it is coroded white,i doubt its anything i was just wandering what its there for.If i had dual tanks wouldn't there be another place to put fuel in the truck or would it run through my tank to the second tank?
Thanks,
 ~Nathan~

Is it behind the seat, or between the seat and door, mounted on the floor?

If it is the latter, it most likely is a valve that allowed you to switch between dual gas tanks. Yes, you would have multiple filler necks if you had dual tanks. Some had three tanks!

If that's what it is, look under the cab, you will see the bottom of the valve and assuming the fuel lines are still there, you can follow them to the tank (or where the tank used to be.....

Well Nathan, now I'm curious.

You have established that you don't have dual fillers. It could be that someone replaced the bed of the truck with one that came from a single tank truck. It could be that this "switch" has nothing whatever to do with fuel - it could have been for aftermarket electricals.

In your message title, you indicate that it's beside the seat. In your message body, you indicate that it's behind your seat. Where exactly is it? Is it a switch or a valve? Can you look under the cab and see if there is plumbing, or wiring, or both attached?

Better yet, can you post a picture?

Does it look something like this? It might or might not have the cover plate, but the valve handle will be the same.

Re: Switch beside the seat.

That's the valve for switching between dual fuel tanks. My '67 had one as well, but doesn't appear to ever have been equipped with dual tanks. Maybe a previous owner added the switch with future plans of installing an auxiliary tank at some point. If you look up under the floorboard, you'll see whether or not it's hooked up on your truck, as there will be one line from your in-cab tank going into this valve, one line coming out of this valve going up to the fuel pump, and one line which will probably be capped off with a piece of fuel line and a bolt (or something similar)...it's this capped-off line that would normally go to the auxiliary tank.
