Re: dash bezel

Doesn't look like factory two tone. Looks painted to mimic a later model.

thin chrome is probably that awful stick on plastic stuff?

Well, to me it appears that the blue on this truck is the original factory paint, but a previous owner added the silver accents. What you think is thin chrome strips along the bottom of the silver is actually just a wide white pinstripe.

Barry, are you certain about it only coming with two tone paint? I could swear I have seen single color 67s with side trim.

willowbilly3, I was gonna reword that. The spear wasn't linked to any trim level, the only time it ever "came" with anything was the two-tone paint scheme.

But then of course you could of optioned the "spear" by itself no mater what trim level you had.

So yeah, an original single color truck could have one.

Re: dash bezel

Not for sure, but I *think* most of the custom cabs used the plastic bezel. With the custom cab trim, the fancy "gauged" bezel came as part of the trim package which included the stainless grille piece, chrome bumper, etc...I *think* only the standard cab came with the metal "idiot light" bezel.
So in other words, a standard cab has the metal bezel, and most custom cabs and rangers had the plastic. In my 67 brochure, they call it "bright finish", and if you have that plastic bezel, you should also have a horn trim ring, and headliner trim.
If you have the standard cab as I do, they say you only have an "attractive functional" cluster, so they do infer there is a difference in the cluster between the two trim levels. My theory anyway...Myself, I thought all "gauged" clusters were plastic. Are some metal as like the idiot light version I have? MK

My '69 F-100 Custom Cab came with the plastic bezel and idiot lights. Dad hacked it up some years ago to add some digital gauges - I recently replaced the whole cluster with a plastic bezeled one from a '68 F-250 (full instruments).

Now that's one I hadn't seen. I didn't know they made plastic idiot light bezels. I thought those were all metal like the one on my 68. I had my panel apart today. I was checking out my speedometer...I notice I need a new lense on mine...Mine is kind of cloudy due to using abrasive cleaner to take a large scratch out. I could fine polish it, but I'm kind of lazy...Would take quite a while...And it still has some minor cracks that are starting to spiderweb in a couple of corners. Probably from overtightening through the years.
I notice LMC sells them...Just got a new catalog today...I'd consider a used one, but I would prefer it to be like new looking, or real close. What happens with the one I have, the lights inside reflect back onto it, and it clouds the view somewhat being the glass itself lights up a bit due to not being perfectly clear...It's not bad, and is quite usable, but I'm just picky about weird things like that...It casts a "light" shadow across my speedo...If anyone on here has a good *clear* lense with no, or very few scratches they want to unload, give me a e-mail, or leave a note here. BTW... a note about my green turn signal lights..When I had the cluster apart, I took a look at my green plastic lenses, being my signals always had a faded funky look to them. Well, the green plastic "lenses" were faded out in the shape of an arrow. :) Seems the amount of light from the blinkers, and maybe the heat also, fades the green out after 30+ years. I just happen to have a green clear notebook folder laying around. I cut out new green lenses, and now they look like new again. If I got a new lense, my cluster would look pretty good. Almost like new. I'd previously very carefully repainted my metal bezel exactly as original about three years ago, so it still looks pretty good. MK

Re: dash bezel

That's something I'm very particular about, is having a clear view of things. Clean windows, clean mirrors, and a clear and scratch-free dash plastic.

For $30-$40 or whatever it sells for at LMC, it's one thing that will make me feel like I'm driving a new vehicle, is new clear plastic for the dash.

Mother's Plastic Polish is the best product I've found for cleaning them, and it's even better when you pull the plastic to clean it, and give it a chance to soak in some soapy water first. If the Mother's is good enough to get yellow haze off late model Crown Vic headlights, it's definitely good enough for dash plastics.
