Re: several questions...
this is odd....my a/c radio console area is ticking ant me and when I get around up to around 60 the a/c or fan at least weezes at me. not the cooling fan just the blower one that works with the a/c unit...I think that is what it is. I started investigating the a/c unit and it is just too much for me to do with my current set up. I actually have no place to work because the two car part of our garage is filled with boxes from when we moved about 7 years ago...its a bloody mess...I'm home from college and offered to clean it up but....appearently my dad "might have to use something out there"...the best I can do is buy the part and take it somewhere. is the evaporator drain hose a model specific part ot can I buy a generic replacement locally? or are there any cheaper replacements at least? I can't take these people at these auto part stores...they know more about adding new rims and strobe lights that what makes all that work....end rant

Re: several questions...
Well, actually the two or three that I've run across had a small metal tube (about 1/2" dia.) that ran from the rubber hose on the AC housing nipple down through a hole in the floorboard, to drain on the ground. Since it appears that you still have your rubber piece, I'd just get a short length of electrical conduit or something similar to extend it down through the floorpan.
As for the "ticking", I've never heard of that before. I'm wondering perhaps if air pressure from highway speeds is causing the flapper valve inside the unit to slowly open or close, which would also slowly move the slider control, possibly making it tick as it slowly moves. Just a wild guess. :-/

Re: several questions...
All of those units I have removed had a molded rubber drain hose, usually with those ridges or rings so it will bend. I would think a section of some kind of hose like maybe that clear stuff would work. Most good hardware stores have it in many sizes. I am guessing 1/2 inch is what it would take.

Re: several questions...
The ticking only occurs during acceleration. during idle or glide it is quiet. and it now it jerks like the engine is skipping like I don't know..a combustion chamber not firing or it happening out of order. That is a guess though.

Re: several questions...
hmmm....that's almost sounding more like a small exhaust manifold leak. If it was starting to leak on the passenger side, it might sound like it was coming from the AC area....especially if you have any uncovered holes in the firewall to let the sound in. However, if that was happening, you might also be getting small amounts of carbon dioxide in your cab...NOT a good thing. If this IS what's happening, you should be able to rev the engine by hand while you're under the hood and hear that, though.
"Funny noises" are always the hardest thing to try to diagnose without actually hearing it.
