OIl pressure gauge

Installing a Sun Pro gauge cluster. The oil pressure gauge is the mechanical style. For a feed line they gave me some plastic tubing??? emoticon The instructions said that if there was a leak you could cause serious engine damage. This must be why I never read istructions. :)) Anybody know what kind of serious engine damage can be caused by a leaking oil gauge?
I think I am going to get the copper line kit for the oil pressure gauge

The plastic lines are prone to kinking and breaking. Once it breaks, you're going to be pumping your oil all over the ground. Once you run out of oil, and the engine goes dry... emoticon

I'd definitely recommend going to hard lines.

I actually know of ruined engines from the plastic line, and ruined carpets. the kid I knew that ruined his subaru had it melt from being too close to the exhaust. Definately use the copper, but make sure you put a coil or two into it to absorb vibration, copper will work harded from vibration and become brittle and possibly crack. Usually at the fitting.

Yes, I'd use something besides copper, maybe alum, but I've never had a problem with the plastic.

Another question about the line. Do I have to bleed the line?

I agree, any air bubbles should bleed themselves out.

Autometere makes a stailess braided line for this application. Cost is up but youll never have to worry about it.
