Wiring Harnesses, Engine Gauge Feed and Alt

Although they both work, they are kind of ratty and brittle.

I would like to replace both the engine wiring harness (gauge feed) and the ALT wiring harness on my truck while the engine is out.

Obviously, no one seems to have these as truck parts, but they are available for Mustangs/Cougars et al.

I am thinking of ordering both for a 68 or 69 Cobra Jet Mustang, biggest thing is that I do not know where the regulator is mounted on either (nor can I find a clear picture.)

In addition, does any one know what the differences with and without tachometer would be in the harness itself? If with tachometer has a ring terminal or extra pigtails on the coil, that would be swell.

Any lucky viewers out there have both a truck and a Stang and want to scope the workability out?

TIA

I have a '68 F250 and a '69 CJ Mach1. I'll check it out tonight, seems doable. You don't want the harness with the tach wiring, Ford factory in-dash tachs are wired different. They are in series with the coil primary, not parallel like all the aftermarket ones. Give me some time to check it out.

Robert, bad news. There’s just too much difference to try to adapt the Mustang harnesses into the truck. The layout is such that most all of the Mustang wires would need lengthening plus some connectors cut off and wires spliced into the existing truck harnesses, it would really be cobbled up. Sorry about that.

Yeah it was a good idea. I never realized how different the truck harnesses were compared to the car.

You like Mach1's, I'm thinking of getting rid of mine. Am sooooo burned out of the Mustang scene.....

I've been thinking of a Mustang, Cougar, Failane, or Comet. I'll have to do a little liquidation if I decide to do it.

I do want a big block (or K code) car, but I suspect a CJ Mach 1 will be out of my price range if I decide to do it.
