There's a '67-only panel on Ebay right now:

Re: Question on using F600 panel

I bought a 67 Ranger cab from this place and I am sure he will give me a deal on everything. Is there anything else I should look for? He mainly deals in semis but has alot of 60's and 70's trucks in the 1 ton to 3 ton range. Also 6 or 7 buses for parts.I know he has 4 or 5 391 and 361 engines along with the 370 and 477-534 monsters. He said their are slow movers and would like to get rid of them.

Occasionally you'll run across an F350 or larger with an FT (361/391) engine and air brakes. If you find something like that, grab the entire compressed air system...compressor, tanks, lines, gauges, brackets, etc. It would be a direct bolt-on to our FE engines, and are a great way to get onboard compressed air. These are especially sought after by die-hard offroaders with big tires. They'll let the air out of the tires when they hit the trails, and need a way of airing them back up for the ride home. There's a setup in a mid-70's F350 tow truck nearby, and I intend to get the whole setup for my truck, so I can have compressed air wherever I go.

Re: Question on using F600 panel

Keith, there was F-350s with the FT and air brakes??? I am pretty sure you wouldn't see air brakes on anything smaller than an F-7. Maybe an F-600 but even all of them I was ever around used the Hydro-vac booster mounted to the chasis with juice brakes. Still your main point is a great one. It would be great to have air. Keep in mind though that most of the airbrake governors max out at 80-90 psi. You can adjust them up to over 100, maybe even 120 on a real healthy one but it won't stay healthy for long if you jack it up that far. Also I have known of a couple guys that just used the old York a/c compressor for pumping air. I knew one guy that used to fix tractor tires and had a couple old 100 pound propane tanks for air tanks and just had a manual switch on the a/c compressor he had modified to use as an air compressor. It worked fine for several years and was capable of making about 90 psi.

Well, the tow truck I was referring to is the only one I've seen like that....but it is indeed a '75-ish F350 with a 391 and air brakes. I was quoted $300 for the complete compressed air system, and I'll be picking that up when I can scrape together the money.

Re: Question on using F600 panel

That sounds like a fair deal. I doubt that the F-350 came with that set up. It was probably all swapped in from a bigger truck. I have owned 3 ex-wreckers and there was very little original left on any of them. By the time they have outlived their usefulness they have been at the mercy of countless modifications and accessorys. Usually the wiring is a total mess on most of them.
So are you planning to build a junkyard dog? Maybe with gin poles and a winch for lifting engines and cabs. I had the 57 F-350 set up like that. I didn't have an air compressor but I did have my toolbox welded to the bed and it had a place for my torches.
