Lifters Ticking!

My 74 cleveland has a slight lifter tick at idle and was wondering if this is normal? The oil pressure is 18-25 at idle hot and 80 at idle cold. At 2500rpm on the road it runs 45-55psi. It only does it at idle and was wondering if it something to worry about. I don't have the external oil line on it yet and don't know if it will help. Has anyone had this problem? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

The oil pressure sounds ok. Use a good filter, that has a good anti-drainback valve. IE: motorcraft, or whatever. Myself, I would just adjust that valve to take up the clearance, and drive. It's possible you could have worn parts. IE: rocker arm gauled out, etc, but it'll probably adjust out. Make sure the oil flow is ok to that rocker. MK

Hydraulic lifters use oil pressure. They have to fill up, and over time the check valve in them can go bad, and the oil can bleed back out of them, so they have to refill.

At least that's how I understand it.
