Anyone tried CJ manifolds in a truck?
Just wondering if they might be a somewhat viable option to headers, assuming one was using heads which are (or could be) drilled for them.

Re: Anyone tried CJ manifolds in a truck?
Yes, a friend of mine put them in his '68 Ranger with a 428CJ. At first he was gonna use some 427 long style cast iron headers but his power steering used the fatter Bendix box which interfered with the driver side 427 header.
On a truck head the diagonal bolt holes would have to be drilled and tapped, the vertical ones are in the correct spots where the CJ manifolds use them. I'm guessing you would have to use a car dipstick and tube.
The preheat stove, S tube and air cleaner base are different (and expensive!) on a CJ vs the 'ol truck 360/390 which is the same as the 390 full size cars.

Re: Anyone tried CJ manifolds in a truck?
I tried to use the 64 390 P code shorty headers on a 68 F-250 once and it would have taken major butchering to make them fit without power steering.
