Fuel Leaking from 390
Started up my 1968 this morning and immediately noticed a large puddle. At first I thought it was oil per the finger test, but looking under the front end showed fuel running down what I believe was the fuel pump onto the chassis and cleaning off all the grease and grime beautifully.
Didn't have time to work on it this morning. Hitched a ride with a coworker. When I got home tonight I started up the truck again and nothing was leaking at all. It was a serious gusher in the morning. Want to address it asap.
Here's a camera phone shot of the area that gas was coming from. I couldn't pinpoint the source at the time. You can really see where it was cause that area is quite clean.
Suggestions anyone? I may bring it to my mechanic in the morning if its not leaking again. But I'm wondering if anyone knows the likely source. Puzzles me that it stopped leaking over the course of the day.

Re: Fuel Leaking from 390
Might have been a hose, but at brief exam it didn't seem like it. Truck is in SoCal so it wasn't very cold. Maybe 55 or so. Been pretty warm.

Re: Fuel Leaking from 390
im going out on a limb here could the carb float stick shut and forced fuel out of pump or I would pull the filter cup off and check the filter and or the rubber sealing ring in the filter cup. Theses thing you could do and save your money for more important stuff for the truck

Re: Fuel Leaking from 390
Pull dipstick, smell for gas. Change pump.
Change oil and filter.
28$ at autozone. Had same problem.
