A guy I just meet with a 71 F100 was telling me about his problems with repro chrome parts. He showed me his hood/side markers and door handles. He bought them new from the big name guy in North Carolina (sold as new, not used and replated) a few years back. The plating job wasn't very good and it has tarnished and developed small pits in the space of a few months. Looking at his truck its obvious he takes care of it and is proud of it.
Anyone had this type of problem with any of the suppliers? I wonder if it was a problem with the plating service or what. He went back to complain and was basically told they didn't want to hear it. I wonder if it wouldn't be better to just have the old pieces replated by a good plating shop. All of the things I've bought new so far are non-cosmetic types of things.
I don't want to use the name of the company because it's second hand information and I haven't heard anyone else bad mouth them.
