Feeling old

Took the truck to Pepboys to get the wheels balanced. When the "kid" pulled my truck in the stall he told me I should have my breaks looked at because "you have to realy mash down on them to get it to stop".
I told him they were manual breaks and got a real funny look from him.

Guess I will just go and listen to Guy Lumbardo on the victrola.

Re: Feeling old - me two

Mine was when I wnet to get a new "Stereo" for my truck. The guy laughed and said "you mean a sound system, sir?"
So I got one of those instead. Sure sounds great whatever it is.

Recently I took my '72 in for some exhaust work......the
"kid" pulled the truck into the bay to put it on the lift.
He said......"Sir..I think your power steering has gone out". I just smiled and said I would look at it when I got home.

Try to get me to tune up that young kids rice burner. My questions are always "where do you start, what is that wierd tool and how the hell do you get to that?" I have owned early 70s Fords ever sence I started driving and will aways own at least one.

Yea, I like the fact that I just can sit under my truck and change the oil.

Re: Feeling old

Young guy at work has an '84 F150 with the 300 6cyl. Showed up at work recently without his truck. I asked him about it and he said he was having it towed to a shop so they could replace the alternator. emoticon I asked him why he wasn't doing it himself since an old straight 6 is about the easiest thing in the world to work on. He said he didn't know how. I told him two bolts, a nut, and a couple of wires. He said he didn't have the tools. Hell, you can do that job with a crescent wrench if you're determined enough.
I told him he could buy a lot of tools for what he's going to pay the shop to change that alternator. Image

I don't know about the next generation, they don't seem to be wound all that tight.
