Dana's in F-100
One last question, and I promise I'll shut up about rear ends.
I see Dana's listed for nearly all years of ford frucks. I thought 67 was the only year for them in the F-100.
I'f I could get either a 44 or a 60 for the F-100, I could run an detroit "Electrac" which works just like a True Trac until you flip the switch and it locks solid. How sweet would that be?
I'm totally unfamiliar with DANA's so somebody give me the low down to make sure I get a 44 or 60 (a 70 or 5050 aparently won't work for me)
Edit: if anyone has one for sale feel free to let me know.

Re: Dana's in F-100
In general the dana 60's were on F-250s.
But it's possible you could order one for an f-100, although I'm not sure if I've seen one. The usual ford truck dana 60 is a full float axle. IE: you can pull the axles out with the truck sitting on it's tires. "8 lug"
Most all f-250's of the 67-72's used a dana 60. "Mine included". I'm not sure the usual dana for a 1/2 ton, but I don't think it's normally a 60, unless it was a special order....MK

Re: Dana's in F-100
The '68 F-100 Ranger I parted out when I first began my project had a 5-lug limited-slip Dana 60 semi-floater with 3.54 gears. It's the piece getting gussied up right now to go into my '67. But in all the trucks I've seen in salvage yards, it's the only half-ton I've seen that had one. This truck was fully optioned, had a 390 with PS (w/Bendix box), PB, A/C, Dana 60, rear chrome bumper with factory hitch, sliding rear window, etc.

Keith
Can you get me the tag number? That has got to be rare axle in a 1/2 ton. Dana 60's are monsters

Re: Dana's in F-100
The Dana 60's rearend tag reads as follows:
C8TA-E
603043-A 3.54
The tag is kinda hard to read, so the first digit of the second row might be an 8, and that A in the second row might be an 4.

Re: Dana's in F-100
My 68 F100 shortbox came with a Dana 60 limited slip and 4.10's what really strikes me as weird is the original engine was a 240...
