So just out of curiosity, did the I-beam pivot bushings come with the outer shells, or did you have to re-use your existing shells?

Re: Polyurethane suspension bushings
I just opened the package of bushings to see about the outer metal case. You do need to reuse your old case, and they also say that you need to burn your old rubber bushings out.

Re: Polyurethane suspension bushings
Hi Keith!
Yes, I had to reuse the existing shells. Don't know where you could get those new.
How's the job going?

Re: Polyurethane suspension bushings
The "stock" type pivot bushings you get at most auto parts "appx $20" include the outer shell.
I've wondered about the best way of gutting the "innerds" of a shell, if you were to use the poly bushings. When I did mine, "stock", that didn't look exactly easy. I guessed at the time, I'd probably burn em out with a torch...But mine came with the outer shells.

OK, that's what I was wondering. I knew the aftermarket hi-po units required using the original shells, but I didn't know if the replacement-style rubber units came with a shell or you still had to re-use your existing pieces. Sounds like you can get them either way. I don't have a torch setup...I'm thinking about seeing if a propane torch will get the job done, I'd imagine it would.
It'll be a few more days till the parts get in, but I believe I'll be stocked with everything I need to get a rolling chassis put back together. Gotta get the rear spring bushings out so I can sandblast the leaves...can this be done without a hydraulic press (using a BFH) or should I just take it to someone who has the press? Once the kingpin bushings are reamed, it'll be ready to reassemble. I'm getting excited here! It'll be nice to have something sitting on the shop floor that doesn't look like a nuclear war reject. :))
