Re: Rag Joint

It's pretty easy. I looked for some pics but couldn't find anything useable, so I hope this will do:

1) Remove two bolts connecting the steering column shaft to the rag joint
2) Loosen the lower steering column to firewall clamp
3) Loosen/remove the steering column to dash bolts.
4) Slide steering column away from steering box (up into the cab)
5) Loosen clamp holding rag joint to steering box input shaft and remove rag joint.

There should be enough slop in the shifter linkage so that it won't need to be removed while you move the column around.

Re: Rag Joint

Exactly what Keith said. I didn't move the column out of the way and was trying to wedge the new assembled joint onto the end of the column with no room to spare. Then I realized, a couple bolts out of the way and I'll have all the room I need. Finished up 5 minutes later.

Of course, I have a quarter turn of free play in the gearbox so it was fun to torque it down, I had to have my roommate hold the steering wheel still while I tightened the bolts down.
