swap meet finds
No luck selling the 64. There were plenty of vendors but the crowd was thin. I picked up a set of the Ranger wheel covers with the red plastic centers for a buck apiece. They are pretty nice but the centers aren't perfect. I also got a Mark IV underdash a/c that was just taken out of a Ford pickup. I got it and the compressor for $30. And I bought 37 feet of 3/8s log chain with hooks for about 1/4 of what our local hardware store gets. I also got one of the old Hurst "T" handles for a fiver. And I was set up a couple spaces down from a vendor that had car care products so I stocked up on all kinds of simple green and stuff for a buck per large bottle.

Re: swap meet finds
1964 no sale.
Whats wrong with those Texans? Don't they know a good car? Put some of those Big Horns on the grille then it will sell.
Maybe you can list it on something like www.usfreeads.com

Re: swap meet finds
I had a couple old geezers that wrenched for Ford dealerships back then, who were really liking the old car but no takers. I was thinking maybe ebay but that costs 46 bucks to list. Maybe I will just spend the next day or so putting it on the sites like the one you mentioned. Thanks

Re: swap meet finds
I went to a swap meet today and scored a chrome rear bumper with brackets for $45, A cast aluminum front axle with spring and steering and wheels, from a 1930s or 40s Quarter midget. I also got the REO single cylinder engine from it. And a very cool oval gas tank that says Henry Ford and Son Dearborn, Mich. on one end. I passed on a nice Corvette tilt-telescopeing column for 80 and a full bottle of Sun Drop soda pop with Dale Earnheart 1987 championship commenmotative on it. I am going to research both and go back if there is a buck to be made.

Re: swap meet finds
I just got back from Pate and I found some NOS stuff. I got 5 F-100 hubcaps; 3 painted and two stainless, a 70-72 headlight door or trim ring. An oil pump pickup and some kind of accessory mirror. I also found a bendix steering box but I ended up getting kind of sideways with the old goat that had it. He said he wanted $100 for it and I said it wasn't worth that to me so he had to expound his great and wonderful wisdom about what it fit and how rare it was. I asked him how many other people had looked at it and said that it is worth $100 from a shop where you can take it back if it's junk but at a swapmweet from someone you will never see again it was worth about $40-$50 as a core. We also exchanged some other words that I won't repeat.
Anyway I got a bunch of other junk too. I will go through it all tomorrow and list the part numbers.

Re: swap meet finds
I didn't get through the whole thing. I got there at about 10:30 and stayed until after 6. I never got to the car coral and probably missed 20% of the swap meet stuff. I saw lots of 9 inch punkins but didn't really look at any. There was virtually nothing for 67-72 pickups. I saw a decent looking hood for $50 but it was on a trailer so I couldn't check the inside lip for rust.
At least half of the place is pre-war and 55-57 chev.
As I was leaving a guy came through in the nicest 72 shortbed hotrod. It was all black, lowered, smoothed, had a filled tailgate and sounded totally radical.
I also saw an overhead cam Ford small block. I can only presume it was one of the handful that Ford had made and experimented with in the mid sixtys.
I saw one set of FE heads, 428 cobrajet for $495. Also saw a nice set if vintage finned aluminum FE valve covers at $250 (ouch!)
Not many post war Ford cars, a handful of 53-56s, a few fat fenders, on e really cool looking 60 wagon. Well I could go on but you just have to see for yourself. 8000 spaces and at least 1000 vendors (most have several spaces)
And I did get to stop at Rust Bomb too. I didn't see any free samples though. I also ran across another brand of product for the same purpose. He unashamedly called it a copy of POR15's formula only with 15% more solids.

Re: swap meet finds
I just got back from Chickasha swap meet. I went on Thursday and ended up spending all the cash I took.
I got;
An Edelbrock 390 Performer manifold. It is just like new and after much haggleing I got it for $160.
Two sets of good FE pickup exhaust manifolds, one set C5T and one set D2T,
A set of almost perfect 55-72(?) Chevy short bed step side running bourds or steps. (the part that bolts to the front of the fender that you can step on).
A real nice used tailgate filler panel for a 70-72. This is the narrow one that is about 4 inches or so wide.
A 1969 Ford truck parts catalog.
A huge box of parts from and early 80s Harley FXR including the front fork. Front and rear brake calipers and master cylinders with lines, stock carb, Harley accessory teardrop air cleaner with the Live to Ride eagle. And a bunch of other misc. including fender, risers headlight ect.
Half of a set of 26-27 Model T top bows.
A bag of old military ammo including 7 rounds 303 British, a few 38 special, 8 rounds 22-250, 32 rounds 30-06 inclunding several tracers, a couple armour piercing and
2 green tips(?) and one yellow tip with a green ring (?). and 2 sets of Smith and Wesson handgrips, one original for unknown model and one set of Packmier(sp?) marked for square butt.
That's about all I can remember. The Edelbrock manifold was a score. In three years of scouring swap meets it is only the fourth or fifth aluminum FE intake I have found and only the second dual plane. The other being an Offenhauser that the guy has been packing around for at least two years trying to get $300 for. Also for some reason all the cast iron FE four barrel manifolds I ran across were priced at $100. The guy I got the Edelbrock from did try to give me a deal on the iron one he had marked $100. I told him I paid $10 for the last one and I needed one then so his wasn't worth any more than that to me, no deal.
I did scour around the small town I stayed in and found quite a few 67-72 pickups, mostly rust free. No problem finding good inner fenders or core supports in central OK. I found one 68 shortbed in a junkyard for $1000, plain jane and overpriced. Lots of old vehicles in that area. My friend I stayed with has a faded but straight 76 Malibu wagon for $450 that runs good and has working A/C. He also has a 3/4 ton 4x4 econoline with a 460, I think is about a 78 or so. The body has some rust but the engine is low mileage. I am not sure how much it would take to buy it. It hasn't been on the road for 3 1/2 years when he had a stroke and quit driving.

Re: swap meet finds
Thats always nice when you can go the first day and get your goodies. Most of the swap meets here a strickly weekends. There is one in Iowa around late summer that starts on Friday but I think most people walking around on Friday are sellers and just look for a bargin and put it on there spot for more money for a Sat sale
