Incorrect Ebay listings

There's a guy on Ebay who started listing items for '67-'72 Ford trucks the other day (HIS LISTINGS)...but since he wasn't aware of all the little changes on various parts throughout the years, he simply stated that his parts fit all trucks of this era. I sent him an e-mail yesterday as follows:
quote:

Hey there...just thought I'd let you know before you got an irate customer: the reflectors you're selling are for '70-'72 Ford pickups only. '67 trucks didn't have refectors at all, the '68 trucks only had a pair on the sides (none below the tail-lights), and the '69 truck had one of a different shape. For more information on this, with pictures showing the differences, see 'Identifying 1967-1972 Ford Pickups' at http://www.fordification.com/67-72ID.htm

I then went to his other auctions and saw more items mislabeled, so I followed up as follows:
quote:

Hey there...it's me again...I noticed that many of your auctions for Ford pickup parts are listed as fitting all '67-'72 Ford trucks, and it might seem to be true. However, there ARE many differences between them. The instruments panels, for example, used from '67-'69 have a completely different style of wiring harness connection vs. the '70-'72, and they will NOT interchange without major rewiring. The vent windows you have listed WILL fit a '67, but the latch is of a different style on that year only...the '68-'72 latches are identical. Also, the '67 hood emblems do not have built-in reflectors such as your listing, as they were not required until the '68 model year. Your emblems are for '68-'72 only. Again, all these details are listed and pictured at 'Identifying 1967-1972 Ford Pickups' at http://www.fordification.com/67-72ID.htm . Hope this helps....good luck!

His reply back:
quote:

thanks, new at this and have so many ford parts to list thanks

I then hop on Ebay this evening, and noticed he's listed MORE stuff, most incorrectly listed, and he hasn't edited any of his previous listings. Here's my e-mail sent to him this evening:
quote:

I e-mailed you yesterday with a link to a page detailing the differences between the various items of the '67-'72 Ford trucks. I noticed you'll also listed several other items, and have them listed as fitting ALL those years...and in actuality, most of them don't. You're entirely within your rights to list things as you see fit, but stating that certain parts will fit trucks that they will not fit is at least misleading. I'm not trying to give you a hard time, please understand...I'm just trying to help you out here. There's a great potential for having some ticked-off buyers when they buy a part for their truck only to find it doesn't fit as stated in your listings.
------------------------------
====The door handles you list will only fit '68-'72. They will NOT fit a '67.
====There were three completely different styles of ignition switches used, and they will NOT interchange. There was a '67-only switch, a '68-'70 switch and a '71-'72 switch.
====The F250 emblems you have listed aren't from the '67-'72 era...they're from the '73-'79 era of trucks
====There are two completely different styles of instrument panels for the '67-'72 trucks, and they do NOT interchange, due to differences in how they connect to the wiring harness.
====You've now got two sets of door panels listed as fitting all '67-'72 pickups, but neither will fit the '67 trucks, due to differences in the door release mechanisms.
----------------------------
All of this information is presented for you in the page entitled 'IDENTIFYING 1967-1972 FORD PICKUPS' at http://www.fordification.com/67-72ID.htm and http://www.fordification.com/67-72ID.htm. It's very possible that somebody who has just purchased a '67-'72 Ford pickup to rebuild will not be aware of these differences, and will take you at your word that they'll fit their specific year, when in many cases they will not. When the purchaser finds this out, he's going to probably want to return it, and this just means a lot of hassle on your end. It's actually a very simple process to edit these listing to include the correct applications. Like I said, I'm NOT trying to be a pain in the butt here to you, though I probably am right now...I'm simply trying to help you out before you run into problems with dissatisfied customers. At the very least, I'd suggest you mention what year of truck the items were removed from, so at least those who DO know something about the differences in Ford trucks can bid on your items with confidence, knowing they're getting the correct part. The links I'm including here are a GREAT source of correct information as to what fits what, and can be used with confidence. Hope this helps....and I sincerely apologize if I'm being a pain. I just do a lot of buying and selling of '67-'72 Ford truck parts here on Ebay and was trying to help out.

So does anyone here think I AM? Being a pain, that is? emoticon

Hey I wonder where she is from!! A woman that already has a hoard of 67-72 parts? One can only dream. I wonder if he left any boats or 4 wheelers behind too.
