So how exactly does it work, Willow? Do you put in a max bid or something. I had $810 in for the dually and it stayed at that for 24 hours. I rushed home early from work to get on a fast Internet connection. I was still high with 30 seconds to go and had a second window open with $905. As soon as I got outbid at that I got one in for $950 (the fever was upon me and I probably would have bid a million bucks for it if I had it!). Anyhow, the auction closed and it went for $965. Ahhhhh.... I could've headed for Phoenix in the morning and been admiring that baby in my driveway by noon! Hey, maybe a better one is coming on line right now!!!

I use Auction Sentry and it runs on my computer 24 hours/day. I simply enter in the auction number of auctions I want to watch, and it logs into Ebay every 5 minutes to update, letting me know how many bids have been entered and for how much. I can bid on any of the watched auctions with it's snipe feature, simply by entering in the maximum mount I'd pay and a time to enter the bid, normally about 5-6 seconds before the auction ends, and it will automatically bid for me. With a fast internet connection, you could probably shave a few seconds off that time and have it place your bid 3-4 seconds before the auction ends, but obviously it starts getting risky. But even with 5-6 seconds, there won't be time for someone else to see your bid and outbid you, so if you get beat, it's because their snipe bid was higher or their previous bid was more than your snipe.

Thanks, Keith. That sounds like the way to go - Auction Sentry. I don't buy a lot of stuff but when I decide to bid on something I REALLY want it so I guess I need to get the right tool for the job.
