My English-- needs help!!
My apologies if this is not the right place where I should be posting my request....if not please move it to the appropriate place.
After I re-read my posts, I noticed how bad my English was...not only grammar but also the choice of words I used. I will try my best to recheck my posts, but sometimes I am not aware of the mistakes. It would be great if you could point them out. I really appreciate it if you could help me learn better English...so I could express better. If you don’t have time please go ahead edit and correct my posts.
I hope I am not asking too much....

Re: My English-- needs help!!
domino, from what I've seen so far, you are doing wonderfully!
But if I have time and notice something off, I will point it out, since you're asking. And I'm sure there are several other Vixens who would be glad to help!
English is a very difficult language - even people who have been speaking it their whole lives don't always understand it. Keep up the good work.

Re: My English-- needs help!!
Question: You've said English is your second language. May I ask what your first language is?

Re: My English-- needs help!!
Gee, Japanese and Chinese are, at least for me,
much more dificult than english.
Domino, you seem to express perfectly. Of course
trying to aliterate as V is not for everyone.
And reading some of the posts arround here does
make one feel ileterate, I know, but nevermind.
If that is your concept of bad english, you´re ready
to make V´s intro movie speach in no time!.

Re: My English-- needs help!!
When I was viewing the movie first time, V's introduction speech was ???????????????????????,??????????,????????,?????????????????????? until he finally said " You may call me V", but I loved his dramatic gesture.
Reading isn't hard. I can always use dictionary. It's when I try to write down what I want to say, that's when the headache comes. I should have studied harder during my school years.

Re: My English-- needs help!!
Domino, you are quite eloquent. I am sincerely admiring of someone who can master another very different language. I am a lazy American who (foolishly) avoided learning another language in my youth. Fortunately I took one year of Latin, which is a big help in vocabulary in most european languages, but useless elsewhere. So now at age 50, I am a beginning French speaker, and it is really embarassing to speak badly in such a beautiful language.
Language is so fascinating -- it carries with it so much culture and viewpoint.
I have been posting the odd english subtitles found on my chinese-made V DVD here.
This DVD has chinese subtitles too. I am curious about the cultural diferences in perception of the V story. Would you be willing to translate a few screen shots for us and see what turns up?
Here is an example:
"The villianies of nature do swarm upon him."
Of course, Shakespeare is challenging. How about something more political?
"The only verdict is vengeance, a vendetta."
or this one:
"Are you, like a crazy person?

Re: My English-- needs help!!
The first one, I can't see. There is no picture image with Chinese subtitle.
The second one, it says “for the sake of everything of the world”.
The third one, it says " V are you like a crazy *****(bad word)? "--- I don't understand why the Chinese subtitle doesn't use "person" instead it uses such a bad word ****(bad word) But, than again, the movie title is just as incorrect in my opinion. " V for Vendetta ", in Chinese " V the strange/weird warrior”. I do not like to watch subtitled movies, because there are so many nuances that are lost in translation.
I only watched the English version V4V, not Japanese or Chinese. I hope Japanese and Chinese who watched the movie has the same fondness for V as we do.
