Re: Say anything!
Just got back from a few days at Harbin hot Springs , among the gymnosophists. some displayed their beauties; I displayed my nerve. nothing improves the posture as much as crossing a deck starkers and pretending not to notice.
and I found a vixen!! actually at Vichy, where we also spent a couple of nights
Work with play the happy differentiation!

Re: Say anything!
Okay, this was the only place I could think of to post this without people thinking I was insane(r), and without risking Mark seeing it.
Mark & Roger are working on a new site, UncommonHelp.me. Roger and I have talked about me helping with proofreading the articles Mark is writing for the site (in exchange for free online training, score! ), but that's aside from the current point.
Right now, there's just a pic of Mark on the site with the message:
quote: Hello
My name is Mark Tyrrell. UncommonHelp.me is currently under construction and will be online very soon.
But when I'd offered to help with any proofreading/editing they needed (in an attempt to land the job I've been wanting for two years ), I'd also pointed out to Roger that the word "construction" on the placeholder page above was missing its S.
So, 2 squees I just saw:
1) They fixed the typo!!! (It's ridiculous how happy that makes me.)
2) This new photo:
is a huge improvement over the headshot Mark's been using with much regularity on Facebook and elsewhere the entire time I've known him:
(Y'know, he told me last autumn, those aren't even his glasses? They were his sister's boyfriend's glasses, and Roger suggested Mark put them on for the photo! [The boyfriend was the photographer.])
Anyway, the new photo is one of the first flattering pics I've seen of him outside of snapshots taken by me and others.
And just to completely babble my way through this post, I friended Roger on Facebook, and he accepted! Reading through his Facebook page, I confirmed that he is the adorable dork I suspected him of being. And, there are points in his statuses/posts where he's sooo Scottish, which is nice to see, as I hadn't had a chance to see/hear that before now.
*public weirdness completed, slinks off to go be weird in private*

We like you just the way you are, my dear Chief Inspector
I'm glad they're letting you do the proofreading and Re: the new photo: he looks sort of cold and professional on the old one, and much friendlier on the now one, so I fully understand why you prefer the new one

Well, I hope he's still thinking of having me do that! It's been a week since I last emailed in our "negotiations" - need to poke Roger.

Yes, that too. But for me, it's more that the new photo actually looks like Mark. All the other "official" photos they've had of him, he looked nearly totally different from how he looks in person. The new one actually looks like the friend who met me at the train station and took me out to dinner.

I know what you mean It's an odd thing - that a photo can be so different from what a person looks like IRL.

*nods* I've had the same problem in re: attractiveness. Some of the men I find attractive (i.e. Paul Blackthorne and, yes, Mark), that attractiveness just doesn't come through to other people from the still photos (even I have trouble finding some of Paul's photos attractive!). Which leads me to believe that what I find attractive in them is something that can't be frozen in a frame in time - it's facial expressions, the voice, the way they move, the personality that shines through in their words and body language, the way their face lights up when a thought strikes them or when they're animated in conversation....
Don't get me wrong, this is a good thing! But it can make it hard to convince others of the bloke's appeal if all they've seen are photos.

And I agree, when I saw the new pic of Mark I recognized him (and all I have to go on is your pics of him)!!! I had a hard time reconciling your pics with the old official one, as far as it being the same person...
*nods again* I sooo know what you mean. (And re: what I said in my email, I did send that before deciding to post here, so the email message stands. )
*roots about the Unk websites*
And then there's this one:
(I'm sorry, luv, but bleh.)
This one's slightly more recognizable, but still not quite "right" (in Trainer Mode):
quote: (apparently I've lost the ability to speak well - damn weekends!)
*HUGGLES* You're doing fine, so far as I can tell. But then, I'm running on about 5 hours of sleep, Toon Town Online time with the nephew before he, his mom, and I went to see Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, and then a twilight drive through curvy mountain roads back to the Kitty Mad House. So I may not be the best judge.

I agree with you 100% - I've had the same experience. Some might say it's their aura missing on the photo
