Re: The erotic dynamics of alliteration, or why it felt that way.

Oh, stop it!!!! And then the "I merely played my part". Holy Christ! It's post orgasm bliss in its finest form!
Right on, Vendy Vix!!!!

*lights Dazzled's purely metaphorical cigarette* Yeah. Me too.

They quote the trappings of his love of art and music, but in the end he evokes a very visceral and sexual response from men and women alike. It's unnerving to anyone who's not completely at ease with his (especially his) own sexuality.
So ladies, it is a little embarassing to be the only guy in the room while the group of you is lusting enthusiastically after V and his climactic Volley of alliteration, but I do have to agree with the analysis.

(snip very intelligent post, defending V as a straight guy.)
*nodnodnod* EXACTLY!!! My dad (who's more of a homophobe than he'll admit) gets ticked off about the whole thing for just that reason. Regardless of flair, V's interactions with male and female alike are straight as an arrow.
But it's the seductive nature of V that makes him so mesmerizing. Just as the V-speech is a hot-and-heavy "quickie", the DVD-speech is a long, slow session of lovemaking, complete with very satisfying climax.
I remember being in the theater as a Vvvvvvvvvirgin and watching the film for the first time. I had no idea what to expect, just that I'd found the white-masked antihero fascinating. At the end of the V-speech I was leaning forward in my chair, drinking in every word and marveling at V's staying power. (I remember thinking how damned impressive the words were, and wondering how long he could keep it up.) Then the DVD speech came on and I was completely sold.
He had me at, "There is something very wrong with this country."
For me, the power of V is that perfect combination of voice, tone, delivery, and message. V could read the proverbial phone book and be dead sexy, but the fact that he has something INTELLIGENT to say only fixes him all the more in my mind as the OOH!!BRIGHT!!!SHINY!!!! fascination that he is.
Isn't that the definition of a perfect hero: guys want to be him and girls want to have him... and dress up like him... and play with his knives.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. kniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiives.
And that's another thing. Knives are a HIGHLY Freudian metaphor.
V has SIX of them.
They're larger than average. (I'd say about ten inches or so.)
V can use them simultaneously.
Who's impotent now?

That's so much of what makes V, V. Someone on IMDB called his voice "caramalized sex" which I just love...it's a short phrase that alludes to what you wrote about. His very delivery of almost *anything* he says, is so terribly erotic.
Ah yes, his voice is pure chocolate to my ears.
