Whatwith the "theories" about V being gay...

The insight of the average LotSG Vixen leads me to suspect that you have fun at the expense of the guys who think this "V is gay" stuff up. But, although I share that POV, it started me on a thought:

Vixens, what if V actually was? emoticon Or rather - as must obviously be the case, whatwith his infatuation with Evey - what if he was bisexual: attracted to both, each in kind?

Would this impact your... erhm... well, your obsessive-compulsive slobberfest over the gentleman, in a negative way? Would V being bi just make his V-ness unquantifiably different, or even completely the same? Or would him being that confident in himself just end up making him even more interesting? This is where the heart of a vixen is murky indeed, and dangerous for the male mind to fathom...

(No, this thread is not intended to be the beginning of a Viction about you, V, and Finch! emoticon Please, stay squarely on topic, ladies.)

[edit: I meant that figuratively!]

Re: Whatwith all the "theories" about V being gay...

Halfway through showing my sister this movie, she asked if V is gay. When I asked why, she said because he cooks, quotes Shakespeare and is elegant. We love V for these and all his qualities. If he is homosexual, it only makes us sad because he would never want to be with us. We would still think he is irresistable. But we wouldn't be able to fantasize as well with the knowledge that he wouldn't be into us.

We don't want him to be gay. We would like to think that it is possible for a man to exist with his qualities. A straight man. We are tired of men who don't take care of their bodies or minds. Men that have no interest other than pleasing themselves in mundain ways. We like art and thought and want to share these things with a life partner.

We enable the common blokes, however. If you date them even though they do not please you, then they have no reason to improve. They already got what they want. This is still a paradox though. Because you want a man who is interested in art/culture/chivalry for itself, not merely in hopes of catching a lady.

In the end, there is a surplus of Vixens and a horrible shortage of Vs. Which is why we really want them to be straight!

Besides, you can cook and quote Shakespeare and still be straight. So I've been told. emoticon

I've really no difficulty seeing what you're getting at. ^_^ I believe many guys think much the same, albeit the areas of issue are often very different.

My question is: what if V was both... er... inclined toward unconventional fare, yet at the same time was exactly the same, squibblable terrorist-philosopher, including his infatuated love for Evey (whom is, in point of fact, a female).

What if the V of the movie was not gay (obviously), but bi?

Speaking personally, I'd probably find my reaction to him getting even stronger emoticon

I have notices several types of "V is gay" theorists.

there are those troglodytes that cant cope with his elegance and ambiguity and sexiness, and use this label as a dismissal

there are those who identify as gay, and see him as a hero - after so many movies where gays and lesbians are suicidal or homicidal maniacs, who wouldnt want such a hero?

I am in the camp of whole hearted bisexuals who beleive that gender is fluid. I am strongly attracted to androgeny. I love that V is pretty AND fierce, subtle AND strong.

And if he has had flings or fantasies about males, well, so have I! emoticon I wouldnt kick him out of bed...

I will admit, though, that it is tough when you are attracted to someone who seems to prefer the other gender. In the end, rejection is rejection, isnt it?

Then the prison scene would have include Gordon as well. emoticon

Seriously, I could care less what V's sexual orientation is, but then I am not as in love with him as the other vixens on this board. Certainly, V is a very attractive individual (in more ways than one), but I tend to appreciate him for his mind, discipline, style, and strong, but somewhat flexible character. He is sexy, but I think his other personality components overshadow this.

Those are the things I find enormously attractive about V. "Sexy" doesn't have to be a purely trivial word, and I don't use it that way myself, anyway.

Well, I know that Leda. Sexy involves many aspects. But many of you go into blatant sexual topics over V (e.g. the photo manip of the box of condoms). I am not saying there is anything wrong with that - more power to you all. emoticon I just don't quite see him that way.

Well....V is a fictional character so it wouldn't bother me what orientation he is. It's just fun to indulge in fantasy and helps me reexamine what's valuable in a person such as intelligence over looks. I just enjoy the ambiguity of the character that makes V a wonderful character.

But it is fun to indulge in healthy fantasy once in a while. emoticon

I've strongly suspected V was bi for awhile, considering the way he toys with Creedy in an almost teasing way. But it wouldn't bother me at all. In fact I'm of the opinion that Comic!V is indeed gay, for a lot of reasons which by themselves don't mean anything but all together kind of point that way. That doesn't bother me either. The fact is I'm never going to meet him, so his sexual orientation isn't really an issue for me emoticon
