Yes, Hugo Weaving CAN sing, but let's just say acting is his strong point. I too would like to have seen V singing and playing the piano, but Weaving's voice is a little thin and curiously high compared to his speaking voice.
You can hear Weaving singing in a few of his movies:
"True Love and Chaos" and
"Wendy Cracked a Walnut"/"...Almost"
I guess humming along to "Girl From Iponema" is as close as we'll ever get to hearing V sing.
