Re: An Elrond thing...
Ladies, you'll have to pardon the goofy mood I'm in tonight (Odie is doing a bit better since he's on Prednisone). Boh dear - I don't know exactly what title you gave that gorgeous painting but ... perhaps it should have been "ELF - THE OTHER WHITE MEAT".

Re: An Elrond thing...
That is a truly wonderful portrait, Bohwea. I'm not really an Elrond fan, but he looks marvelous, I must say. I guess Weaving is not the easiest person to paint. He has so many features which could slip into caricature if you're not careful, but here you've given him both dignity as well as sexiness. The lighting and color scheme are specatacular!
Could you enlighten us as to your methods and materials?

Re: An Elrond thing...
Biscom, thank you :)
Seeegnüüüs, and I would not possibly be able to decline such a sweet request, wand-waving would ensue!
And as for 'white meat', considering there's a bloody great fire behind him, I think it's barbecued white meat on the menu.
elf kebabs all round!
Lily of the snakies, huzzah for heart-skippage! (As long as it's not prolonged or whilst driving)
Doctor Delightia, you are too kind. Now I think about it, it's those very features of his with all their fabulous saggings and swaggings that make him so unendingly fun to paint! I've done smooth-faced chaps like Orlando Bloom as well but it's so dull in comparison.
As for how the old chap was done, it was oil paints on canvas board (12 x 9 inches) with underpainting and sketching out done in acrylic - no 'drawing' per se involved. The underpaintings are always rough and dodgy-looking, but the fun bit is refining them into something familiar and detailed - sometimes it's more like sculpture than painting, lol. There are a few work-in-progress pics HERE.
