We have a verrrry large East Indian population here where I live, so much so that the local TV station (which basically just runs ads for ongoing community events: rummage sales, high school fund-raisers, etc) shows Bollywood movies late at night and on Sundays. These movies are painfully bad. I mean reeeeaaally bad. And the storyline is almost always the same: boy from the wrong side of the tracks (India's notorious caste system, in this case) falls in love with rich Daddy's-little-girl.... trouble ensues..... adults argue..... girl cries..... boy dances....... girl sings...... boy cries...... boy gets his ass kicked in fistfight with girl's brother/uncle/grandma..... girl cries some more, then dances and sings....... etc. At one point or another, boy and girl ride on motorcycle. By the end of the movie, everyone has: 1). sung, 2). cried, and 3) danced.


BTW, Bollywood cranks out more movies per year than Hollywood does..... and they're all the freakin' same!!!

Thanks, Viv...and V-Dazz you just crack me up! emoticon I esp. like your last line about everyone has sung emoticon, cried emoticon, and danced emoticon (sorry, don't have a singing emote). One mustn't OD on Bollywood movies, only take them in small doses and you'll be fine (at least with the better ones). One of the best Hindi movies I've see is Yaadein, apparently a mega-hit in India. I really like the soundtrack.
