Aid for New Orleans area ...
This is an idea that a friend of mine came up with to help people out in our area (since Dubya obviously doesn't).
Anyway ... if you're curious to see what we're up to (it takes her close to three hours to make these things), CLICK HERE. A portion of all sales will be donated to Second Harvesters Food Bank.

VERY nice! Ask your friend to post the dimensions of the baskets on her eBay posting (and if you could post them here, I'd be grateful).
I can't promise anything in terms of purchasing (I have to survive the entire month of May on half-a-month's salary), but I'm quite impressed.

Re: Aid for New Orleans area ...
*Smacks head on desk* ... I just had some of those baskets here yesterday evening (around the same time of your post), taking more pictures to tack up on eBay. Wish I would have dropped in, I could have given you the dimensions - that's ok, I'll talk to her tomorrow and I'll let you know (in addition to posting it on eBay).
As far as finances go ... believe me - I understand. Times are rough everywhere right now. {{HUGS}}
Edit: Ok dear - got the dimensions for you height is 7 & 3/8 inches, the top diameter is 9 inches and the base diameter is 7 inches. (When I spoke with her earlier, she re-measured and those dimension actually are correct. Weird - I thought they were higher than that).

Re: Aid for New Orleans area ...
Cygnus m'love, please tell your friend to be careful with ebay and saying it's for charity - they've pulled auctions for that before unless the seller displays a ... thingy, a certificate kind of thingy from the charity mentioned as proof.
If you check any of the 'giving works' listings on ebay http://pages.ebay.com/givingworks/index.html you'll see that they all have the ribbon logo and an approval 'thingy' from their charity.
I just say this because despite the random pirating/ theft/ and general crap behaviour on ebay that gets ignored, they will stomp on a self-proclaimed charity listing with almost gleeful speed, and it sucks dead badger. Don't let it happen to your lovely friend.

Thanks for the heads up Boh (this is the first time I've dealt with eBay in several years and to be honest - I'm finding it a bit confusing). I've spoken with her and she said this will be no problem after her first sale. Another friend of hers works for the local paper and has written and published an article in regard to the eBay listing.
What she plans to do is not directly give money to the charity listed, but to actually go out and by food and bring it to Second Harvesters (and meals on wheels) so that the funds will not line some CEO's pocket. After that, and with the article running in the newspaper - I'm sure she'll have no problem getting this "certificate/ribbon thingy" to back her up.

Done - I've checked that out. ~Sigh~ that just means one more thing I'll have to fit into what is going to be a very hectic week (her car is shot - so, I have to go shopping with her).

Which, if you think about it - really IS a good policy. Unfortunately, such a thing is a necessity with so many dishonest scum floating around there. Speaking of which - would you happen to know of any other auction sites that are more reputable than eBay? If so, please let me know. One more request and I'll shut up - please PM me with any other tips on eBay you may have as it is obvious that you are *very* familiar with it.

Re: Aid for New Orleans area ...
The project has come to a permanent, grinding halt - I'm sorry to say, due to a gross misunderstanding on the part of the person who was making the beaded baskets. Due to my lack of experience with eBay, in particular whereas charities are concerned (again, thank you Boh for pointing this out) - the creator of the baskets was somehow under the impression that I was lying to her (at which point, accusations were hurled at me which, needless to say were not appreciated in the least) since she was not able to obtain a statement of donations from Second Harvesters.
This, sadly was partially my fault - as I should have realized that such charities are, in fact - overseen by the Archdiocese of New Orleans - which is the organization that she *should* have gone to for the statement of donations. The reason I'm posting this is that I wish to apologize to anyone who may have wished to obtain one of her beautiful creations.
