North-Northwest Photography
I always have my camera with me, and have been going a bit nuts whilst spending time out-of-doors in my new environs. So I wanted to share a selection of my latest shots.
The beach is a great place for photography, but it's hard to get the timing right to have the waves just right, the person (who doesn't know you're taking their picture) in the right place, etc. And don't get me started on trying to get seagulls to pose!
I took multiple shots of this sunset, playing with color, exposure, "film" speed:
"Here it comes!":
This one was tricky: Calculating how close I can get to crouch down for a shot of the flattening, incoming water without getting wet. But I like the little "sploosh" at the edge of the water --
Sink Cat!
"Oi, Mom's getting 'artsy' again..."
Next stop, Balboa Park - my first trip there was during dead time between work and picking KittyRoomie up at the airport. My goal was: find a spot to sit and read. Then I realized how much great architecture the park has! Didn't get much reading done after that.
And there's some really interesting trees there, too:
I can't believe I live here! It makes me happy.
Mel and I ate dinner at The Prado in Balboa Park after she'd dropped her visiting friend at the airport. On our way out, we noticed this couple and...

Re: North-Northwest Photography
Oh, what the hell? I'd posted these on other threads in the past, but in the interest of consolidating my work in one place:
My favorite shot of Stonehenge:
That photo of Stonehenge and this next pic, I blew up to poster size (20"x30") and framed them. They're not hanging at the moment, though. The day after I picked them up from having them framed, I had them in my (old) office and got the best compliment on this next one - one of my coworkers was walking by, skidded to a stop, and came in to take a closer look, saying what a great photo it was. He did a double-take when I told him I was the photographer! Anyway, these buildings are in Brussels, Belgium:
This is one of my favorite photos from Paris:
This poster-print was hanging in my "dining area":
The Eye in London:
This one is from Brugge, Belgium. It took me 30 minutes of standing at the ready to get the shot the way I wanted it - these carriages came by every few minutes, but just as I had it framed right, a car/bike/pedestrian would walk right in front of my camera!
This is my cousin(-in-law) and her daughter on the steps of the Rotunda at the University of Virginia. I'd been taking shots of the buildings around the courtyard and turned around and got this candid shot. When my cousin realized I was pointing my camera their way, she started to pose and I told I already got the shot.
Apropos of nothing, this was my hotel room number in Amsterdam:
Here's a color one I like - this door is on the side of a hotel in London:
This was the house I stayed in for the three months I was in London:
That's all I have in my PhotoBucket for now.

There are no coincidences, remember - I really like the photo from Paris

Magnificent ButMad!! I especially like the one in Paris of the tracks and the lamps. Black and white is so classic!!
