Ven's Snapey Fan Art You may know I have been studying character and figure drawing for the past few months, since I got it in my head I wanted to paint a portrait of Headmaster Snape. One thing has led to another (doesn't it always? ) and I have found a really fun world of Harry Potter fan art.
I am finally getting some drawings I feel pretty good about.
This one is my first all-digital drawing of the Professor - up til now I have worked in charcoal and pencil.

Re: Ven's Snapey Fan Art Yes, for the first time I really set up my wacom tablet and photoshop to do what it's meant to do - make tapering brushy lines, and I worked with transparent greys and whites til I got things shaped up and got confident with black-black.
The face is drawn completely freehand and from my inner Snape... I did look at a rickman foto for the costume and folded arms position.
By jove, I think I may have found him! I have been doing clumsy awkward not-quite-right snapey drawings for 2 months now, and this is a break-thru.

And I have to say that my mind boggled at your explanation of how you did it.
My artistic talents lend themselves pretty much solely to music (although I've gotten pretty handy with the Greeting Card program I have) so in all honesty my mind boggles at something as simple as a pencil sketch.
