Last night at my conference, Cindy Sheehan spoke. She is the mom whose son was killed in Iraq who is working har for the Peace movement and to end "our immoral war with Iraq." She is quite something -I had not heard her speak in person before.

at the end of her talk, the crowd was on its feet, cheering. she flashed the V for Victory, the Peace sign!

1000 people answered her with both hands, and 2000 V's were waving joyously in the air!

We're having a local election in June and there are signs all over town reminding people to vote. The signs read "Vote!" with huge red V's and the rest ("ote!") in smaller blue lettering on a white background. As you can imagine, those V's are quite eye-catching! emoticon

Here's a V-icarious moment at a different movie, interestingly enough. Extremely mild spoilers regarding the DaVinci Code, so I'll leave some space if you want to hear nothing at all:

So I saw The DaVinci Code today. Interesting stuff.

When they talked about the blade as the archetypal symbol of "male," I got a huge grin out of that! Of course my mind flashed to V.

And at the beginning when they do the title screen, the title fades on slowly, and the "V" in DaVinci appears first for a few moments alone, before anything else. I had a brief "wait, wrong movie!" moment. emoticon

Interesting film, thought provoking. But I would have preferred to have been seeing V4V, obviously!

Yes, and notice that the "A" in "Da Vinci" also looked a bit like a V... I guess they did it because of the symbols for man and woman that are explained in the movie, still it immediately made me think of V...

Speaking of daVinci code,

here was another smart movie with lots of art and history, and shadowy vaulted spaces!

just nowhere near as thrilling or sexy, but interesting.

I have to say, seeing Tom Hanks bow down and worship the goddess was quite a treat. Its time She got some appreciation!

Since it's such a familiar sight, I'd forgotten until this afternoon that I have a Vicarious Moment twice a day, every day, Monday to Friday. When I'm taking stuff up to the ninth floor at work, I can see the "Jordan Tower" from the window in the lift lobby emoticon

I'm just watching Malcom in the Middle. This girl played a joke on Malcom and Reese thinking the other brother was gay. When Malcom and Reese found out about her joke, Reese yells, "VENDETTA!!!!"

Also, I saw on TV the new hairstyle for women....BIG BANGS (which look just like V's).
