Re: Last preview session is now ready in 3 high-speed hosts (and some more media )

Krydiam....sent you a pm about the video listing. I'm not sure if it went through since my computer went goofy a few moments ago. The vid list for Bohwea and I need to be switched around. Bohwea did "Vequiem" and I did the other two. Sorry if this is a repeat but wasn't sure if the pm went through. Bohwea did such a great job and wanted to make sure she got credit for the correct video. emoticon

Just because a store sells you a gun doesn't mean they support you using it kill someone or rob a bank.... Granted, an extreme example, but you get my thought, yes? emoticon They trust the consumer's morals to direct them to use the products for the legal uses for which they were intended.

All those products you mentioned are intended for personal use, not piracy use. For example, I take one song each from ten CDs I bought to make a mix disc for a friend or for a party or for driving in the car.

The only legal way to make mass copies of a CD (for example) and make money of them is if it's your own music or you're making CDs of electronic files to distribute to your clients....

I know you know this, kry, I'm just saying. emoticon

I don´t know about that, ButMad, do you realy think
they care in anything else but the profit they do?

they sell us tecnology grain by grain. Already at this
moment HD versions of movies are beeing stored
for distribution, the next faster chip packed and ready
to hit the streets, and then HD players will follow,
along with the rcorders, at insane prices. WS HD tv´s
will have to be bougth to see this content, and when
you realise it, your DVD will be like a vhs tape is to
all of us now...(I still have some 20 or 30 of those emoticon )
there is already a chip that is 64 times faster than any
top level domestic pc avaliable, and etc, etc, etc...

No, they don´care...in fact, they push you to do it.
It´s not their reponsability in the end. ironic isn´t it?

The thing is, we now have the choice to support or
not digital content. At least at a software level.

I wish we could decide about other things in life.

But ButMad, you know I do this for fun, not profit!.
though it could shock some people, people that are
not used to this kind of stuff. I understand them.

For me it´s fun, and specially, I love the content. so...

let me just tell you something...this V streaming
movie is not the full pirated NTSC DVD beeing given
away out-there. It´s an elaborated piece of encoded
content that has only some 500 M size!. It´s a test,
a "preview", it´s many things, but it´s not a "pirated"
copy.

those have almost 5 Gigabytes in size, have covers,
an are sold in Ebay and other places. Shame on them.

Anyway ButMad, one thing is for sure:

I will buy V for Vendetta DVD when it hits the stores.
I will do it because I support this work, and that´s it!.

Anyway, the funny news is google has finally enterd
here with its spiders and indexed our content.

I just don´t know at what extent, but I´ll check...

I monitor my activities myself, including the stream,
so everthing is fine when it ends fine!. Next googles
visit will not find nothing really compromising to index.

These spiders can easyly be stoped with a simple
file called "robots.txt". That file is the first thing they
search in a site, board or forum, and there you can
specify that NO CONTENT IS TO BE INDEXED BY THEM,
but then, webmasters want traffic, they dont use it.

(note- only runboard top level admni. can stop them,
though admnis. from this particular board can specify
what content is allowed for indexing and wich is not.
the writing of this "STOP" files has strict rules. if not
writen well, they will simply be ignored. By all engines)

Hell, even the "pirate" sites allow them to index stuff.

Try writing "Butmad" in google...or any of our nicks...

And we talk about spying and invasion of privacy, lol.

edit- this is a common thing. please don´t panic.

some tips to avoid spiders;

use popular names. you will hardly be indexed at top
level (1st results).

if you choose krydiam, that will give you 1st top level
results (lol), because there are only
2 krydiams in the net. "me" and another company.

don´t refer to filenames as their realname. use V
instaed of *you know what", for example.

keep editing regulary. This is VERY anoying
to spiders, as they keep coming to double check
results and will find new stuff to index.
they sometimes give up indexing for large periods
of time, but they will be back!.

and last of all, don´t be afraid to express. At this
moment, there is (still) no active conection between
spiders and law enforcement institutions.

and even if there was, whats the problem?
none for me really. stream is NOT indexed!.emoticon

at least directly...

"the terrorist has a very inside knowledge of our
systems...he knows us better than we know
ourselfs...".

Feeling observed, paranoid? PLEASE don´t! emoticon

For us, it is "bussiness as usual". NO fear...really!
it´s quite funny that this happens actually, lol! emoticon

Oh, and take a look at this...it takes you back in time,
regarding webpages. 55 Billion indexed so far.

http://www.archive.org/index.php

Take a laugh at 1996 Microsoft official web page! emoticon

or the 1st official runboard page lauch!.

they did allow HTML at the time! It´s there! emoticon

Yes, They care about Their profits. But I stand by my statement - just because They provide the means through which one could pirate and copy pirates doesn't mean They're encouraging the consumer to do so. No, They're not responsible for what the consumer ends up doing with Their product, but that doesn't mean the gun manufacturer encourages the shooting of someone else... or that the DVD-R manufacturer encourages illegal copies.

Would it help if I said "The Police trust the consumer's morals..."?

"They push" us to pirate movies? And yes, I know you don't do this for profit - but there are those who do!

Eh, you know I'm just presenting the other side. It's a finicky issue, and as you know, I can see all sides and regularly get headaches trying to think about it. emoticon

For various reasons, I just can't bring myself to support the file-sharing thing at this time - not to the extent or for the reasons that some people participate. We've already agreed to disagree, haven't we?

Although, I admit I'm very tempted to hit the stream button... emoticon But you didn't hear it from me.

(Eek! I clicked it! .... Had some trouble at first [black screen with audio], but I notice you made some changes about that time, so perhaps that's why. .... Eh, emoticon -- I preordered the DVD ages ago; my impatience just finally got the better of me! .... I may have to leave this on to stream while I go to bed.
....
*next morning* Is it normal for Media Player to shut itself down at the end of the file? Oh, well. I found Temp Internet Files and *the* file and it's safely tucked away elsewhere... emoticon ...because of quality issues, I'm still planning to rip the DVD when I get it, for my ZVM and designs I have on music vids... emoticon)

emoticon I had a feeling I would give in when I could no longer find a single theatre playing it and the DVD wasn't out yet... As soon as I get my DVD, I'm deleting that file and making my own, for better quality and size issues. I tried to put the current file on my ZVM, but it doesn't like it for some reason. I started the conversion process, but then wondered why I was - it's already going to take a LOT of time to rip the DVD (and possibly convert that, depending), so why convert now?

The silly thing is, I haven't watched the file yet! No time. I put it on Saturday night to fall asleep to and was gone before Prothero finished his first rant (before Fingermen Alley)...
