Yikes. I thought I had posted a reply already! Absolutely brilliant, MK. I especially love the knife play scene...I can't get it out of my head at times!...and your use of Shakespeare entwined with your writing is just perfect. I can't thank you enough!
THANK YOU!!!!

It took about three weeks, and then another week and a half to sort and cull the 30+ pages down to the smattering that I actually used. I shudder to think how long it would've taken if I hadn't limited myself to just Acts V.
quote: not to mention....the,.....uhhhhm,.....fictional details.
kihihi! I AM a Parnormal Romance writer. It was quite the challenge, as I wanted to do justice to both characters.
quote: I am so glad you portrayed V as physically compromised but still agressively lustful and fulfilling.
*nodnodnod* He is NOT handicapped. He does quite well for himself and has adapted handsomely to being who and what it is. There's a tendency to reduce him to being angsty. He's not. He's not happy about what's happened to him, but makes the best of it. And his reaction in the film to Evey's request to see his face convinced me that, when comfortable, he's perfectly capable of communicating what he wants and where his boundaries are. Better still, V has a marvelous sense of humor and truly does love with all his heart and soul. He's passionate in everything he does, so I figure why shouldn't that passion and wit and care extend into his intimate dealings? Everything I saw in the film only signalled V's potential as a lover.
Plus, the man is freakin' HOT. He just is. He's compelling at every level a man can be.
So he's missing parts. So what? So am I. So are you. So is everyone. Mental. Physical. Emotional. We're all shades of imperfection, running the gamut from physical and emotional nonfunctionality to perfect sensuality. You work around whatever isn't working perfectly and make allowances. That's one of the reasons you should never got to bed with someone whom you aren't comfortable enough with to communicate honestly about what you want and need.
I never had any doubt in my mind that, given the right circumstances, V could be quite spectacular in bed. He's brilliant, intuitive, imaginative, and emotionally generous; that's the perfect mix for a genuinely splendid lover.
quote: Beautiful piece of work MK! My regard for your talents grows each day.
Thank you!
And thank YOU!!!!!

I know what you mean. It was very sensual, in a "safely dangerous" way, that was quite titillating to read. (IRL, it would probably freak me out --- not to mention I'd also be pissed that there was now a gash in the mattress! )

quote: I LOVE the song you chose, "I will not take these things for granted" -- it has long been a beloved song for me, an anthemic hymn to sharing the intensity of awake to the gifts of the world -- my best notion of what intimacy is, I think.
THANKS!!! I was hoping someone would get that. I had fits trying to choose the right song; I wanted something that conveyed that sense of optimistic unease that comes at the start of a relationship, but wasn't too smarmy or syrupy. (What Evey and V had should NEVER be reduced to eye-batting cheese.)
Plus, I liked the oddly meditative nature of the music, and the lyric "I will not take these things for granted" I thought summed up the whole theme of the scene.
quote: nearer the end, when Evey encounters the mask again, I spilled over in tears and wept through the rest of the story.
HUG!!!!! *squoobles until Ven's ribs are happily sore*

Lol!!!
Well, there's a reason this is fantasy. That part of the scene intimidated the crap out of me for several weeks, mostly 'cause I knew that one false move and it'd become silliness. I also wanted to tap into the fantasy I and other vixens share about those gleaming daggers. It's a flirtation with the dark side that involves no small amount of trust and communication.
Plus, I believed wholeheartedly that V has the kind of control and empathy to make such a thing not only possible, but intriguingly desirable.
THANKS, EVERYONE!!!!
VIVA, V!!!!
