yeah, i know the feeling i work far too much for me to read as i would like. i still bring multiple books with me whereve i go tho, just in case (ive habit of reading several at once lol)
quote: I hate spoilers.
i understand why most despise them so, but i dont mind them so much *shrugs* im far too curious for my own good, for one thing lol and in cases like character deaths, i actually find it somewhat helpful. it allows me to prepare a bit, to process what ought to be an inconceivable idea. heck, im still in denial about Sirius and Dumbledore, and i knew what would happen to them long before i ever read their respective "swan songs." gah, now im really depressed at any rate, HBP is a fabulous addition to the HP series even with our beloved Dumbledore's demise. hope you enjoy

Even when I sit down to read, I often find my brain getting in my own way - too many trains of thought constantly running under the surface. How I long for a book that can drag me under, as I used to enjoy, to the point that their world becomes more real than mine...
And then there's the part of my brain that keeps analyzing the storytelling, plot, character development.... darn English degree!
My degree is, ironically, part of the reason I got away from reading. I had to do so much required reading, there were years when I had no energy or desire left to read for fun...
quote: (ive habit of reading several at once lol)
I haven't been able to do that for years, but when I was a kid, I'd often read 3 or 4 books at a time - AND be able to keep the plots straight. I also used to be able to read while the TV was on. And read while walking home from school.
These days, I'll get to a point where I'm going to stop reading, but I don't always put the book down immediately. I'll page ahead, read snippets, ruin something for myself. (Right now, with Jennifer Government, I keep confusing the timeline because of that habit.) I really need to try harder to break myself of that...
My other problem is getting distracted - I'll get into a book at the beginning, read it every chance I get for a couple of weeks, then get distracted by wanting to be online or play a game or whatever, and the book will sit around for a while before I get back to it. Heck, I've got at least two or three books on the shelf that have bookmarks part-way through them, because I got distracted.

I've already decided that if/when the movie Highlander: The Source finally gets released, I'm going to seek out every spoiler I can, ask other people for a synopsis, find out as much as I can before I see the movie myself. Simply because Endgame turned out to be so horrible and because the advertisements for it lied. So I want to find out as much as I can about The Source before I see it - plot details, how much screen time Joe & Methos got, etc. etc. (and not rumors or speculation beforehand, but the solid facts after the release) - before I waste my time and/or money on it.
(Sorry for the sidetrack rant.)
quote: *shrugs* im far too curious for my own good,
Me too, really. My mom always got mad at me when I was growing up, because I couldn't stand the suspense and would seek out my presents. Of course, SHE'S the one who kept hiding them in the same place!
But as a writer myself, I also have a great deal of respect for the process of storytelling. I don't like hearing plot details of movies before I see them, because the storytellers had a way in which they wanted the story told, a timeline in which they wanted things revealed, and it's one of my great joys in life to be swept along with the storytelling and have those moments.
Again, because of my degree, I've also gotten really good at predicting where a movie's plot will be going, but the REALLY good movies keep me from doing that, because I'm too involved.
quote: hope you enjoy
Thanks. I have no doubt I will, given my experience with the first five books.

IT'S AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER!!
RELEASE DATE: JULY 21!!
(And I haven't even read Book 6 yet...)
You haven't read HBP yet? ... ARE YOU MAD?? *cough* wait - (thinks about the question just asked).
Anyway - I zipped through that book in two days. Obviously, NO work or any sort got done - and I'm sure it's going to be the same scenario with the final book in the series. And yes, I've pre-ordered!
~Sigh~ July is going to take *forever* to get here!
Glad I waited for the "Series of Unfortunate Events" to be completed before buying book one - waiting is pure agony.

if so, im gonna be so severely depressed >_>() it was bad enough when Sirius and Dumbledore were offed *still in denial that nobody can "come back," even if JKR says so* but yeesh... this last installment is gonna make me freak out, no matter who dies. well, unless its ol' moldywart or his DEs. then itll be a party XD eh, yeah
IF Ms. Rowling sees fit to bump off Harry and/or Snape ... there WILL be a book burning right smack in the center of her living-room.

Re: Harry Potter 7 Title Announced
the covers have been released, let the HP hysteria begin!!!
i hate the uk children's cover it just looks so bad, and why in Britain do they have to have an adult and child's covers? i really like the US cover but there is some strange corelation between voldemort nad harry, look where the arems are on each figure. there are some interesting things that may be in the book, the house elf has godric;s sword, and someone late in life will do magic, maybe aunt petunia? also someone else may die and i think it will be hermione.
from the cover:
quote: "Harry has been burdened with a dark, dangerous and seemingly impossible task: that of locating and destroying Voldemort’s remaining Horcruxes. Never has Harry felt so alone, or faced a future so full of shadows. But Harry must somehow find within himself the strength to complete the task he has been given. He must leave the warmth, safety , and companionship of The Burrow and follow without fear or hesitation the inexorable path laid out for him…
