Shakespeare in Washington - 6 month festival!

Shakespeare in Washington

an amazing 6 months of Bard celebration is happening in my town.

Feel free to email me for more info or ideas.

And, in all likelyhood, I could host Visiting Vixens!

I like to play tour guide emoticon

Wish I could come! But if I'm going to make it to London, that's probably the only trip I'll manage this year.

*wonders how her cat managed to get out of the house to run a theatre company* emoticon

The first time I saw Richard III was my first trip to London - I'm sorry to say I fell asleep! emoticon (I blame jet lag.)

The first time I saw The Tempest performed was an all-male production at The Globe during my second trip (semester) to London. emoticon

Enjoy! And believe it or not, I'm a bit jealous. I can't remember the last time I was at the theatre.

I saw the Tempest tonight, and it was wonderful! Great stormy opening, great spirits and monsters, really funny drunken sailors, a Caliban so like Golem of LOTR.

Not to mention a lovely pagan wedding! Very funny, sweet, clever and wise.

more at a more loquacious hour.... emoticon emoticon emoticon

some pics here

Shakespeare in Washington, part TWO:

Richard III

Click for Photos

Oh, my! How V is he? more Naked Villainy, less noble heart, but a masterful conniving manipulator of other people's greed, lust and doubt.

In some of the essays about the play in the program, it was pointed out that there is plenty of back story to the victims of R3 to justify their demise, excepting the young Princes, of course. And that the R3 we know comes to us via Tudor propaganda, and therefore is probably largely distorted. Apparently there is a Richard III society dedicated to un-besmirching his memory! (kind of like us, heh heh emoticon Viva V! )

It was truly amazing theater, I loved it, the ending battle scenes were incredible -- made me want to study Fight Choreography with them. (they have classes...Wouldn't this be fun?!
)

more later... should be working!
