Favorite Fight Scene

I absolutely love the fight scenes in V!! I find them to be incredibly sexy to watch, and my only "complaint" is that there aren't more of them in this movie. Oddly enough, in real life I abhor anything violent --- I don't even like to hear people yell at each other. Aaaanyway, I purposely left off the scene between V and the suit of armor, since I don't consider it a real fight scene.

So, what's your favorite scene, and why?

Oh my, I don't think I need pause for thought: it's the Jordan Tower fight with the (happy sigh) "swishy hair" moment emoticon

Re: Favorite Fight Scene

I love all three, but I voted for the Fingermen Alley fight. The way V appears from nowhere and instantly has control of the situation. The way he spins a knife (and the sound effects!) behind his head before using the butt of it to punch out a Fingerman. The scream of pain from the Fingerman who punches V in the "face." etc. etc.

The only reason I didn't vote for Victoria (which on a gut-reaction level is my favorite fight) is because I still think the way they did the blood is a bit excessive, maybe just because it's in slo-mo. The fight would have been just as impressive without the gore.

The Jordan Tower fight is wonderful, with the nose-to-nose and using the cops as shields and the deception that starts it... But it's so fast and short, it's often just a blur to me (especially on the enormous IMAX screen), so I don't think I've fully processed it.

It is difficult to choose, because they are sexy all three of them.

I remember seeing it for the first time - the beginning of the film with both V and Evey preparing for a night out. Not much action, only Protheros endless stream of hatefull words.

And then suddenly...... action! V appears - the SOUND of the knives, his monologue and the words "Are You Hurt?" which totally melted my heart emoticon

And then the Fingermen Alley scene was over - and I knew, I had to go and see this movie again emoticon and again and again and...

I just love the nose-to-nose scene in the Jordan Tower fight, and I hadn't noticed the "swishy hair" moment, so I'm glad you mentioned it.

The Victoria Station fight is very beautifully choreographed and luckily in slow motion, so it's actually possible to catch more than just a glimpse of what V is doing.

Even though the two deeeeep breaths and "My Turn" are among my favorite "V Moments", I vote for the Fingermen Alley fight scene, because that was where I first fell in love with this mysterious, sexy and noble man! emoticon

I voted, but didn't post why earlier. emoticon

I voted for Victoria Station because there is just an overwhelming impression of V unleashed! Even when he's been shot up and beaten up by all those bullet impacts he still moves so quickly the other guys look like they're underwater. There's a deadly grace to the whole thing. I definitely like the other scenes for different reasons, but in terms of a fight scene, this one is definitely my favorite. I also love the frightened response of Creedy et al. You can see in Creedy's eyes at the end he finally gets it that V is far above and beyond anything Creedy can control.

After much pondering, I finally voted. I went with the Jordan Tower scene for the following reasons:

The nose-to-nose with the cop
The hair swish
The knife-twirling at the beginning (it's almost as though he's deciding "Who shall I start with first?")
The way he man-handles all the cops (rarrr!)
The fact that it's a well-lit scene, so you can see all the action that takes place
aaaaaand the fact that it leads up to that blow he delivers to Dominic after Evey's slammed to the ground

Jordan Tower. I just loved the knife-twirling and the mask to face scene. But I also like his Victoria Station Fight. I wonder how would the fight look like if it wasn`t slowed down...

Probably lasting about 4 seconds, with V blurring about and the Fingermen falling like dominoes.

ETA: On a side note, there's an interesting interview with the stunt folks on the official website describing the filming of that scene. Basically Stunt! V was going as fast as he could while the Fingermen were moving in half-time. Apply the slow-mo and your brain mentally does the "math" such that you know if the Fingermen were reloading as quickly as they could then V is so much faster than a normal person. He would almost literally be a blur, I think.

I love the fight scene at Jordan Tower. It's well-lit, and the white hallway against his stark black figure cuts a nice picture on the screen. I especially love when he is nose-to-nose with that one cop, and he looks so merciless and cold. And then he just turns away, the Angel of Death, still at his work. *shivers* Great stuff. emoticon

It was extremely difficult to choose the best one, but I chose the fingerman alley scene. Why?

1. Starts out quoting Shakespeare.
2. Nothing like a good pantsing! emoticon Plus, trying to get away from V in your underwear is rich! emoticon
3. Saves the girl. emoticon
4. Serenades said female saying such sentimental, savvy, and alliterative sayings.
5. Asks her if she was hurt.
6. Helps her UP!
7. Invites her to a musical concert of sorts where he excels in percussion instruments. emoticon
8. She does return home safely like he promised.
